As the last couple of games are done in the first weekend of the 2022 North American VCT Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ), FaZe Clan’s VALORANT roster is currently placed in the upper bracket finals all of this thanks to an incredible yet somehow expected duo performance from players Phat “supamen” Le and Andrej “babybay” Francisty.
FaZe Clan’s victories over Evil Geniuses and 100 Thieves were actually quite different from each other. Against Evil Geniuses, as we are used to by now, collapsed in the second half of map one but came back through pure grit gameplay to win both Breeze (map 2) and Ascent (map 3) both in overtime. Against franchise rivals 100 Thieves, they barely managed to avoid the same fate as before, after a monstrous map one victory with a flawless defense side performance on Ascent.
Nevertheless, there was always something that was consistent in almost all games for FaZe Clan, which was the star like play from both supamen and babybay, both recently have taken on the primary controller and duelist roles in the composition, switching from time to time with each other.
Supamen has been a consistent pillar for the FaZe defense, patiently using utility to its fullest potential and slowing down anyone who actually attempts to push through a site. He has a competition top 38 multi kill rounds. Going to our second star, Babybay has been the flashy fragger for the team, continuously providing a lot of damage and clutch highlight reel plays that would cause any enemy player a shiver down their spine.
Babybay and supamen after the latest games were finished, are currently first and fourth in average combat score, also first and second in average damage per round, and lastly seventh and first in Kill to Death Ratio. Supamen’s role in the team has been an absolute blessing to the previously inconsistent FaZe Clan. He achieved second place in kill-assist-survive score at a total 81%, only behind Cloud 9’s star vanity with 82 percent. Babybay has managed to shine at the start of and end of rounds with a 60% first blood kills and clutch win rate at the same time.
Both players have received nothing but praise for each other as well as the team. Supamen recently told in an interview that babybay “is one of the best players to ever touch this game” while also saying that once he saw babybay get a couple of multi kill plays on Ascent vs. 100 Thieves, he knew the game was gonna be over rather fast. In an interview with Upcomer, babybay said he constantly suggested for the team to pick up supamen when he became available as a free agent and mentioned that his teammate was “ice cold on LAN.”
Babybay is coming with full force heading into FaZe’s next match which is versus The Guard. FaZe will look to continue their momentum against The Guard in the NA LCQ upper bracket final on Friday, August 12 at 3pm CT. Make sure to stay tuned as we’ll be sharing our esports picks of the 2022 NA VALORANT LCQ!
