FaZe defeats G2 in IEM playoffs

FaZe defeated G2 2-0 in the opening round of the playoffs, advancing them to the IEM Katowice 2024 semifinals. Finn “karrigan” Andersen’s team’s victory over the winners from the previous year was a statement win because the latter team never settled into the series and saw their Inferno risk backfire. After a sluggish start to the tournament, Nikola “NiKo” Kovač put on another forgettable performance, and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov only appeared on Ancient. FaZe were simply too hot for their rivals to handle, even with Robin “ropz” Kool putting a quiet series. Helvijs “broky” Saukants posted 18 AWP frags and won all but 1 of his 5 AWP duels with m0NESY. Continue reading this article for the best information on esports predictions!

In the pistol round, Nemanja “nexa” Isaković’s three frags in the pit helped G2 get off to a fast start on Inferno and storm to a 4-0 advantage on the CT side. David “frozen” Čerňanský, who was playing his first game in the Spodek Arena, recovered from a difficult start by giving his team their 1st round and stopping G2’s momentum with 2 entry frags in banana. After that, FaZe gained confidence and led by 2 rounds at the half. In the tenth round, frozen played a crucial role by winning a 1v3 clutch. To the amusement of the crowd, Karrigan’s soldiers maintained their lead in the 2nd half and prevailed in a perfect pistol round that started with a Zeus kill from Ropz. After they started to accumulate economy, G2 went on a run of their own, and nexa’s 1v2 clutch helped them tie the game at nine. But it would be in vain for the Serbians to try. As NiKo and m0NESY appeared to be losing steam, G2 soon ran out of steam and FaZe finished the game with a 4-0 run.

Next was Ancient, where FaZe gained an early offensive advantage. After G2 rallied, they tied the score at 2-2, but they were incapable of taking the advantage as Ropz and Broky held a 2v4. After that round, G2 appeared stunned, and as FaZe took control of the match and led, frustration began to show. In the last round of the half, Nemanja “huNter-,” Kovač executed a 1v2 clutch. After losing the subsequent pistol round, G2’s situation worsened, but they were able to turn the corner and secure a force buy. Despite a brief run of victories, the FaZe train continued to roll in this series.

With a total of 43 kills over 2 maps, Broky finished with an insane series for Faze Clan. He had 12 more than the second-best scorer, Frozen. With a rating of 1.58, Broky helped the Faze Clan defeat G2 Esports. Although G2 Esports was the reigning champion, their tournament did not live up to their expectations or standards. G2 continues to strive for consistent outcomes in their CS 2 journey.

On February 10th, Faze will now play Mouz in the semifinal. However, G2’s Counter Strike 2 run had been lackluster thus far; they placed fifth and sixth at IEM Katowice 2024, earning $500,000, and 500 Blast Points.
