Few could have foreseen Karmine Corp.’s terrible beginning. With realistic expectations going into the First Stand, KC is now winless at 0-2, and their elimination is all but certain. Both of their losses came against opponents they were supposed to be competitive with, in everyone’s minds these were the two matches they must win, and their performances have been lackluster.
Their opening match against TL was the first sign of trouble. KC struggled to keep up, making costly mistakes and failing to control objectives. TL, fresh and aggressive, capitalized on every misstep, securing a convincing 2-0 victory. This put immediate pressure on KC, as they could no longer afford another loss.
But in their second game against CFO, things only got worse. Even though CFO hadn’t played yet, they appeared focused and well behaved, destroying KC with excellent cooperation and macro. After two days, KC is the only team without a single victory after failing to establish themselves. They lost 0-2 again as a result. Now, their situation is critical. They still have two matches left, against TES and HLE, but even winning both might not be enough.
The Path to Phase Two: Who Will Make It?

With CFO and HLE leading at 1-0, they have the advantage, but nothing is guaranteed yet. CFO pleased in their debut against KC, but they will need to show themselves against more difficult opponents. Meanwhile, HLE has yet to play a match since their dominating victory over TES, making their true strength questionable.
The biggest battle is between TL and TES, both at 1-1. Team Liquid, after beating KC in their opener, stumbled against the Chinese juggernauts, who secured their first win in a convincing performance. TES had previously lost to HLE, making their tournament run a bit unstable, but their victory over TL put them back on track.
TES’ upcoming fixture versus KC is crucial. A victory maintains them in the race for Phase Two, while a defeat would place them in a vulnerable position. HLE, on the other hand, will need to demonstrate if they are serious competitors or only riding high off one outstanding performance.
With so many teams still in contention and KC fighting for their tournament lives, the remaining matches of Phase One will decide who moves on and who goes home. The stage is set for a spectacular finale: will KC pull off the impossible or has their destiny already been decided?
