Close call but ultimately the expected result
FlyQuest was expected to qualify for the PW Shanghai Major 2024 Asia RMR, but it was surprising that they had to navigate all the way through the lower bracket to achieve this. They began their journey with a 2-1 victory over ohnePixel’s DRILLAS. On the decisive map, DRILLAS had multiple opportunities to clinch the series but failed to capitalize in clutch time, allowing FlyQuest to avoid elimination and remain in contention for the Major.
Lynn Vision fell to FlyQuest 0-2, missing their chance at the #ShanghaiMajor2024. The Australian team avenged their earlier loss to Lynn Vision at Copenhagen Major RMR, securing their spot at the Shanghai Major. Congrats! pic.twitter.com/BXmYiRZcCe

The subsequent match against Lynn Vision was largely one sided, with the Chinese team managing only 10 rounds across the entire server, enabling FlyQuest to secure the much desired final Major slot for Shanghai. This marks a significant recovery for the Aussies, especially after missing the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024.
The streamer squad who actually won
The first qualifying teams from the Americas RMR have been determined as well, and the results have surprised the community to say the least. Wildcard emerged as the first team to qualify, marking a significant milestone as it will be their inaugural Major appearance for the organization owned by streamer Amouranth. Their journey has been remarkable, culminating in a decisive 2-0 win against Argentina’s 9z in the final match.

This event will also mark stanislaw’s first Major since 3 years ago and Sonic’s first in his tenure. Additionally, MIBR secured their spot by defeating Complexity, in a matchup that shocked the North American scene. While MIBR was not initially considered a guaranteed qualifier for the Shanghai Major, they can now take comfort in having secured their position at this early stage.
So far, there have been no significant surprises regarding the teams that have been eliminated in both events. DRILLAS and TALON were unable to advance through the Asia path. In the Americas RMR, Case and Nouns were also eliminated, a result that was largely expected for both teams after looking at their competition. With a few days remaining in the tournament, the situation is likely to become more intriguing as we approach the final stages.
