FlyQuest faced a challenging task this time around, requiring strong performances on all 3 maps to clinch the CS2 championship at ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024. They started strong by winning the first map (Ancient) but the second entry (Vertigo) proved to be a nail biter, ultimately going into overtime when they could have sealed the deal early on.
As they approached the series decider (Dust 2), FlyQuest established a strong 9-3 advantage by halftime. However, a revitalized BIG side put them on the back foot during the second half. Despite the pressure, FlyQuest’s lead was sufficient to ultimately secure the victory, ending the match at 13-9 in favor of the Australian boys. It wasn’t as flawless as fans would have hoped for. But for these players, this marks their first CS trophy win ever (excluding dexter), and that’s what truly matters.

Among all the FlyQuest members, aliStair has faced the most criticism this year. When a team struggles, attention often shifts to the performance of the AWPer or IGL. To be honest, leading up to ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024, his statistics were not impressive (especially his overall KDA). However, this CS2 tournament marked a turning point for him, as aliStair rose to the occasion and made crucial plays to support his team in the finals.
If you dive deep in the series, you will notice aliStair truly stepped up during the decisive match on Dust 2. Time and time again, he delivered in clutch situations, answering BIG’s executes with some astonishing shots. This performance from aliStair is a new level for him in the Tier 2 scene, and it’s important to note that BIG was not an easy team to pull this off. If he maintains this level of play, FlyQuest could potentially make a significant impact at larger events (Tier 1) in the future.
Nevertheless, everyone from FlyQuest delivered, with the supporting department allowing both aliStair and dexter to shine throughout the series. Without everyone on the same page it is almost impossible to sustain 3 consecutive high pressure matches in a Grand Final. The real question now is… Will FlyQuest perform like this in the next Major? Since Renegades, Australia has not managed to truly make a dent in the Tier 1 scene, usually scavenging for income around Tier 2. Thus fans expect FlyQuest to remain stuck after this win, even if their is clear improvement.
