G2 close to signing Central American star

Dust2.us and HLTV have learned from multiple sources that IEM Dallas 2024 winners G2 are presently considering adding M80’s Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa, a rifler from Guatemala, to their roster of elite players. It is currently uncertain who G2 will start in place of on their starting lineup. Continue reading this article for the best information on esports predictions!

MalbsMd would be an unexpected addition to G2, considering the team has a reputation for attracting players based in Europe ever since joining the game in 2015. Jake “Stewie2k” Yip, the former stand-in who actually assisted the team in winning the IEM Dallas 2024 title earlier this month, was G2’s first player from the Americas.

Guatemalan prodigy

The 21-year-old Guatemalan has received a 1.32 rating from HLTV for the last six months. Along with this stat, he also has an astounding 1.59 impact, 0.84 average kills each round, and 91.8 average damage every round.

Even if domestic competition isn’t on par with that of Europe, his LAN performances aren’t to be laughed at. During his six LAN events on M80, he recorded an 8.4 ADR, a 1.16 HLTV Rating, and a 1.34 Impact Rating. His finest results came in the ESL Pro League Season 19 and the 2024 PGL Copenhagen Major Americas RMR, when the Guatemalan scored 1.28 and 1.33 HLTV Ratings, respectively.

As a member of TeamOne, malbsMd made a big splash on the global Counter-Strike scene in 2021. He went to his first major LAN, IEM Cologne 2021, with that team, and the Brazilian team lost in the Play-In round. After that, he played for 00NATION until joining TeamOne again in August 2022. He joined M80 as the North American group joined the Counter-Strike scene less than a year later. Since the beginning of the year, the Guatemalan has been in the best shape of his life. Before M80 lost to Legacy at the Americas RMR, where malbsMd averaged a 1.33 rating, he was on the verge of playing his first Major in Copenhagen.

Big contract

According to a source who spoke with Dust2.us, M80 has requested a sum well into the mid-six figures, which may make malbsMd one of the priciest transfers for a player from North America. M80 has already started looking for a replacement and has contacted a number of teams with inquiries. Due to their geographical classification, M80 is expected to stay in the American region and has time to locate a new player.

The identity of malbsMd’s replacement remains unknown, but the IGL Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen and support player Nemanja “nexa” Isaković are still being viewed by the community as weak points for the fourth-best team in the world. As opposed to the anchor positions that the Serbian usually fills, malbsMd is more accustomed to playing in fragging duties and is not known for his calling skills.

Following a loss against Team Spirit, G2 is presently participating in the BLAST Premier Spring Finals 2024. But they were lacking their finest player, m0NESY, who came to London later than expected because of a visa problem.
