G2 dominates on both Riot Games esports titles – VALORANT & League of Legends

G2’s July has been one for the history books, as they have conquered both VALORANT and League of Legends in the same month. The European organization has grabbed the 2023 League of Legends EMEA Championship Summer Split and the VALORANT Game Changers EMEA Series 2, adding 2 trophies to the evergrowing case they have.

The League of Legends squad faced a resurgent EXCEL while the VALORANT Gozen roster went against FUT Female. G2 Esports started extremely well with what would become a rather fast series, while G2 Gozen struggled a bit to close the series after a dominant start on Fracture, nevertheless both squads won their grand finals.

G2’s League of Legends team went absolutely ballistic in Berlin, the squad seemed untouchable during the entire series. Vintage G2 showed up on stage, with all players executing flashy plays while escaping near-death experiences, ultimately getting advantages out of thin air thanks to their mechanical prowess. In a matter of 3 hours G2 grabbed their 11th LEC trophy after demolishing EXCEL with a dominant 3-0 sweep.

Performance and efficiency was the name of the game for G2 Esports this season, with the introduction of a new G2 facility plus performance coach Ismal Pedraza, G2 elevated their gameplay to another level this year. Previous instances of “underrating” their opponents or lack of practice are a thing of the past for G2 Esports, as the new squad seems extremely focused right before their trip to Worlds 2023.

As for the G2 Gozen squad, they ran their series into game 4 versus FUT Female for a chance at the Game Changers title. FUT managed to take Pearl, however, an extremely rapid 13-3 win in game 4 sealed things out in favor of the Samurais.


G2 Gozen has become the pinnacle of both mechanical talent and communication, with the squad showing great synergy under high-pressure situations. Similar to their League of Legends squad, G2 Gozen have taken advantage of a massive training overhaul, ultimately making them extremely efficient with their time outside of the stage.

Slowly but surely G2 as an organization was able to build a structure that provides support outside of in-game work, filling small gaps that were detrimental to them back in 2022. Now both squads are prepared to face the best in the world in both VALORANT and League of Legends, thanks to well-earned trophies during July.

G2 Esports will look to practice and improve as much as possible ahead of their appearance at Worlds 2023, while G2 Gozen will still need to battle in order to punch a ticket for Game Changers Champions 2023.
