After a couple of games have been played, the first true elimination match of the EMEA VCT Last Chance Qualifier has finished today between Acend and G2 Esports. Both teams had been previously sent to the lower bracket spot after appalling losses to M3 Champions also known as Gambit and OG LGN UTD, respectively.
As the rest of the EMEA VALORANT teams continue to battle for one last chance to play for their region at Champions, the tournament continues to get better and better in what the community considers to be the best region in the world for VALORANT esports odds. As of yesterday, G2 Esports showed their potential through a close match to definitively eliminate the current defending VCT champions with a final score line of 2-1.
Is important to keep in mind that Acend came into the EMEA LCQ with a drastic roster change, signing former Team Liquid controller main L1NK, who they hoped would only make the roster stronger. G2 Esports lost their first game of the tournament 2-0 against OG LGN UTD, a roster that is quite shaky on the international stage despite showing they can actually battle with the top set of teams in EMEA. G2 Esports got blasted in this first game of the LCQ, only achieving 11 total rounds through two maps. They seemed to create a better showing yesterday to stay alive in this losers bracket.
G2 Esports continued with their usual Icebox map ban, allowing Haven, the map they were demolished on 13-5 just two days earlier, to linger in the air. As one of Acend’s strongest maps, they immediately picked Haven and forced G2 Esports to play the map again in this series. Nevertheless G2 Esports, likely looking at Acend’s weakness against M3C in Fracture, decided to play there for the first game.
Despite G2 Esports planting the spike for several rounds in a row within the second half, Acend rapidly pushed their retakes with absolute confidence. CNed played like a monster and Acend remained cool under pressure, lastly taking the victory on Fracture 13-8.
Going into Haven, both teams decided to play a composition that was anchored by Killjoy. In North America, the agent has rarely been picked, even on maps where she used to be strong in the past.
Acend began the map as the stronger team, however, G2 Esports climbed their way back on their attack side thanks to AvovA and Meddo. Haven was a close affair, nevertheless G2 Esports closed the map that saw them lose earlier, winning 13-11.
G2 Esports carried that momentum and walked into Bind with conviction. After Acend won the initial pistol round, they were ran over by G2 Esports. The defending champions got demolished by nukkye and his teammates, with a final score of 13-5. Nukkye then received the player of the match award due to his performance.
The EMEA LCQ is coming to an end this week and G2 will continue along in the lower bracket, where they’ll face NaVi in the Quarter-Finals. This time, the VALORANT odds are favoring G2 as they have been looking like the better team throughout the tournament.
