Following several days of doubt, Gen.G declared that Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, an established League of Legends mid laner, has resigned for 2024.

As soon as the LCK’s immediate off-season began, Gen.G swiftly announced the departure of multiple players. Four of the 5 starters were cut, leaving rookie AD Carry Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan as the only member of the roster to make it out alive.
The only anticipated result of Gen.G.’s complete roster shift was the retention of Peyz. In his debut, 17-year-old AD Carry was outstanding, displaying his remarkable spacing and skills at an early age. Throughout his international outings, Gen. G was unquestionably the team’s most notable member.
The group signed jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, support Son “Lehends” Si-woo, and top laner Kim “Kiin” Gi-in in addition to extending Chovy’s contract.
Despite the fact that this is a significant shift, it appears the team is getting ready to rebuild around Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon and a superstar squad.
It was another matter entirely to get Chovy for one additional year. Despite his almost robotic precision and technique, the 22-year-old mid-layer is nonetheless prone to impatience. Chovy’s contract ended at the conclusion of this season, making him a free agent with plenty of bidders in the LPL and, more importantly, the LCK. In the end, he decided to remain with the Korean team.

The acquisition of Canyon was arguably the most noteworthy achievement for General G. Canyon had previously stated that winning was his main priority and that money was not his focus. The LCK jungler, who had spent the previous five years with Dplus KIA (then known as DAMWON), made a significant move with this. He started his career with DAMWON and stayed with the organization till this year.
The official roster will start with Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, Son “Lehends” Si-woo, Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, Kim “Kiin” Gi-in and Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan.
Kim “Kim” Jung-su, a former leader of T1, Bilibili Gaming, and DRX, will lead the team. Kwon “Helper” Young-jae and Cho “Mata” Se-hyeong will support him as the coaching staff.
They shared on social media: “We’re excited to see what they build with the team and know that their experience and knowledge will yield a great season!”
Though Gen.G did well in 2023, winning the LCK Spring and Summer Splits, they were defeated by Bilibili Gaming in the 2023 World Championship quarterfinals as well as in the lower bracket semifinals of the Mid-Season Invitational. They were able to defeat T1 in both of the LCK split playoffs and come out on top and they also advanced to the MSI top 4 and the Worlds quarterfinals. The Korean squad has already established themselves as a strong force for the forthcoming League of Legends season with this fresh roster and a reorganized infrastructure.
