Abyss, a map DFM had assertively claimed in their prior matches, was the starting point for the series. But Gen. G quickly established his superiority, winning the pistol round and taking advantage of Yoman’s crucial triple kill in the bonus round. A 6 round run of unanswered rounds resulted from this momentum, which was capped off by Munchkin’s amazing 2v4 clutch. DFM had trouble getting going and was behind 9-3 at the interval.
Despite Abyss’s reputation for favoring attackers, Munchkin’s 3k in the bonus round swiftly put an end to DFM’s dreams of a comeback. Karon then converted a 3v4 situation into another round victory for Gen.G. with his own clutch 3k. The tone for the remainder of the series was established by the map’s resounding 13-6 triumph.
Lotus: Foxy9’s Defense Locks Down the Win
DFM initially showed promise on Lotus, Gen.G’s map pick, by winning the pistol round and securing an early 2-0 lead. However, Gen.G quickly regained control, winning eight out of the next ten rounds. Foxy9 was a key factor, anchoring defensive sites and disrupting DFM’s attacks.
Despite another pistol win at the half, DFM couldn’t maintain momentum. Gen.G’s flawless post-plant utility ensured they secured the anti eco round, crushing DFM’s chances of a comeback. With only one more round win to their name, DFM fell 13-6, cementing Gen.G’s clean sweep of the series.

Gen.G’s victory marks a strong rebound from their upper-bracket loss to DRX. As the defending Pacific Kickoff champions and top performing Pacific team in 2024, Gen.G faces mounting pressure to secure a spot at Masters Bangkok. They now prepare to face TALON in the lower bracket, needing two more wins to reach the international stage.
Although they were eliminated, DFM delivered their strongest performance to date as they left the tournament. They established their capacity to compete with the region’s elite teams by finishing in the top 6, a huge improvement from years at the bottom of the Pacific standings. As the Kickoff event progresses, we’ll all be waiting to see if Gen.G can reclaim their dominance and earn a position on the world stage.
