GIANTX signs with purp0

Before the start of VCT 2024: EMEA Stage 1, the youthful team GIANTX has announced the completion of its Valorant roster. Former KPI Gaming member Semyon “purp0” Borchev is the newest member of the team. GIANTX joined the EMEA league and was announced at the end of 2023. The club competed in VCT 2024: EMEA Kickoff shortly after deciding on a squad in order to earn spots at Masters Madrid; however, because they didn’t have enough time to train the players, they placed ninth. Semyon Borchev, also known as “Purp0” (Russia, 2003), is GIANTX’s new face. He is a member of the KPI Gaming club in Spain. Purp0, the new duelist for the Malaga and London teams, is expected to replace Nukkye, who was a major contributor to GIANTX’s World Cup trip the previous year and the main character in one of the most joyous moments in the company’s history. Purp0 co-stars with Adolfo Gallego (Fitinho), Kirill Nehozhin (Cloud), Aaro Peltokangas (Hoodie), and Igor Vlasov (Redgar). Among the most respected Valorant coaches, Daniil Meshcheryakov ‘Pipson’, will serve as the head coach, with Milan de Meij ‘Milan’ serving as an assistant.

GIANTX member Redgar, competing on stage

There is a group stage and playoffs under the standard league structure. Along with Gentle Mates, FUT Esports, KOI, NaVi, and Team Heretics, GIANTX is a member of the “Omega Group.” ‘Group Alpha’, which consists of BBL Esports, Team Liquid, Team Vitality, Fnatic, and Karmine Corp, the recent winners of the first event, will be up against these teams. There are five days of play. The three teams that have the most wins over their opponents in the other group advance to the playoffs. And the Shanghai Masters will receive the top three finishers from this last round. Riot Games Arena in Berlin will host the regular competition for EMEA clubs from April 3 to May 12. Karmine Corp. will play its first opponent, GIANTX, in the competition’s opening match. This opponent already has their schedule set: Fnatic on April 12, Team Liquid on April 19, Team Vitality on April 26, and BBL Esports on May 1. The ‘playoffs’ follow this group stage. Those that made it to the Masters will go to China to compete in a competition that runs from May 23 to June 9.

Semyon has garnered attention for numerous lesser-known teams throughout the course of his lengthy career; KPI Gaming was the most recent. The player, who will represented Acend in VCT 2022: EMEA Stage 1 Challengers, has some prior experience competing in seasonal competitions. Of course, since Purpo is a player who has traditionally had a significant impact on their individual teams, his entrance can give the club additional punch or firepower. The Russian duelist, who served as an instigator for KPI, goes back to his roots. After playing through teams like Rebels, Empire, B9, M3 Champions, FOKUS, or the previously mentioned KPI, he now consistently makes it to the first level of European Valorant. Fans are eager to see how this team performs in the coming days.
