IEM Dallas 2022 Group Stage Highlights
After 3 days of intense CSGO odds matches, only 6 teams survived and now will be playing in the IEM Dallas 2022 playoffs. We actually witnessed so many upsets, that’s if we consider how most of these teams performed in the last PGL Major Antwerp. But that’s a thing of the past now, so many teams are now looking for redemption as some of them didn’t perform up to the expectations of many csgo betting experts.
For me, the biggest takeaway from the group stage is how ENCE surprised everyone as they completely dominated G2 Esports and took down FaZe in a convincing manner, and they did so using a stand-in player. Lotan “Spinx” Giladi couldn’t attend the event due to ongoing visa issues and Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski would replace him. And to be honest, Snax has been doing an amazing job, especially if we consider that his role is way different than the one Snax performed.
Now ENCE will have a chance to redeem themselves after failing to reach the major grand finals a couple of weeks ago after they fell against NaVi in the semifinals, but due to them claiming 1st place in group A, they advanced directly to the semifinals, where they’ll wait for the winner of the FURIA vs G2 series. But enough talk about what happened in the group stage, let’s jump right into the matches that await us in the playoffs.
FURIA vs G2 Esports
For me, FURIA was one of those teams that definitely could’ve pulled off a better run during the PGL Major Antwerp 2022, but Team Spirit stopped them right on their tracks. Although the Russian squad clean swept their Brazilian counterparts, I still think that FURIA could’ve taken them down if they just found out a way to play a more controlled game.
Now the Brazilian squad will have a chance to prove that they are a team worthy of being called one of the best in the world, and what a way to prove this than by taking down G2 Esports, one of the teams that also couldn’t meet the expectations during the last major.
We have a great storyline in our hands because G2 Esports now has the chance to claim revenge against FURIA, the team that eliminated them from the PGL Major Antwerp legends stage. The European squad clearly struggled during the last major because before the tournament began, they were considered a very strong contender for the title, but they ended up fumbling down.
The strange thing is that ENCE and Team Spirit, two of the teams that did reach the playoffs, didn’t present a challenge for G2 during the Challengers stage. For G2, I think that there is a lot of pride involved in this matchup and they won’t go down easily.
FaZe vs Cloud9
Between the two quarter finals matches, I think that this will be the most exciting one, and that’s because most of us didn’t expect FaZe to lose against ENCE in the group stage finals. That was the most unexpected result of the entire group stage because of ENCE’s situation regarding Spinx.
It was crazy to think that a team using a stand-in player would be able to take down the recent PGL Major Antwerp champions, and to be honest, it wasn’t a series as close as FaZe would’ve hoped for. If the team captained by Karrigan manages to beat down Cloud9, they’ll go on to battle it out against BIG, one of the other teams that took the competition by storm.
On the other hand, Cloud9 is one of those teams that also couldn’t meet the expectations during the last major as they were really far from sneaking into the playoffs stage after being eliminated by Imperial in a convincing manner. Let’s remember that when Cloud9 picked up the ex-Gambit roster, a lot of csgo betting sites experts were considering them a real threat to the competition, but for some reason, they have been struggling to score important wins.
But during their lower bracket run, Cloud9 looked different, they were able to dismantle Ninjas in Pyjamas in their second game, and they did the same against Team Liquid in the finals. Even though Cloud9 arrives to this match as the underdogs, they already saw that FaZe can fumble during high-stake matches, and they can use that to their advantage.
