LoL teams at the Esports World Cup

Format and details

There will be a single knockout bracket League of Legends competition at the Esports World Cup 2024, with eight teams participating. The organizers extended direct invitations to eight teams that they deemed to be the best from each of their primary regions. There is just one elimination bracket with these eight teams as the seeds. The grand final is a best-of-five series, whereas the quarterfinal and semifinal follow a best-of-three structure. The winning group receives EWC Club Points worth $1 million US.

In the Club Championship of the Esports World Cup, club points are similar to a team’s scorecard. Accumulating them grants access to a substantial US$20 million prize pool, in addition to the profits from each individual game. Teams accumulate points according to their final positions in each of the EWC’s several game events. Club points are earned by a team in proportion to how successful they are in various games. In order to take home the Club Championship trophy, a team must accomplish more than just score points. Additionally, they must triumph in the tournaments for individual games at least once.

Teams competing

Gen.G

With their recent victories in the LCK Spring Championship and their maiden MSI victory, Gen.G appears to be the team to beat this year. Considering that they have a lot of strong hitters on their roster, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon’s outstanding mid-lane play and his excellent jungle synergy with 2020 World Champion Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu make up a formidable core.

Bilibili Gaming (BLG)

The LPL is extremely tough; as of right now, Bilibili Gaming is tied for the perfect Summer Split with Top Esports and JD Gaming. Alongside Bilibili Gaming, Top Esports is one of the best teams in the LPL this summer, continuing their winning streak. Heavy heavyweights like Bai “369” Jiahao and past world champions Gao “Tian” Tianliang, Yu “JackeyLove” Wenbo, and Tian “Meiko” Ye are among the players on their squad.
