Small light in a struggling esports community

Overall, it is no secret the esports scene has been struggling in the last couple of years, with several mainstream organizations either merging out of necessity or purely due to lack of funds. Some of the most notable, at least within the League of Legends scene, are the likes of Team Solo Mid, Counter Logic Gaming, and KOI. Nevertheless, G2 has managed to prove that esports organizations can still push for high profile investments firms on the market.

However, this puts G2 Esports in a peculiar spot, being one of the organizations that has to prove the money is being put to good use. Results will be crucial from both the esports teams and marketing.

G2 via social media:

“This year is our 10th anniversary, and looking back over the last decade, we’ve not only built a globally successful brand with teams that are consistently on top, but also we’ve built a valuable business that’s been profitable for multiple years. As we look ahead, we’re excited to keep building our legacy to become a next generation sports organization.”

Interesting background from investors

The Wilf family, who manage their investments through WISE Ventures, own the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings, Orlando City SC, and oversee the real estate development firm Garden Homes. This impressive portfolio indicates a strong potential for growth for G2. Previously, G2 has attracted investments from various sources, including the founders of ESL, owners of MX Liga and Wrexham football club, and Bluepool, the company behind the NBA’s Nets and WNBA’s New York Liberty.

This week, G2 also rejoined the EWC foundation club support program, which may secure additional funding from a Saudi Arabian backed venture. G2 is one of the leading organizations in esports, competing in games like League of Legends and VALORANT. However, the team has faced challenges in achieving the financial success needed to meet its ambitious expansion goals, which the two rounds of investment are expected to support. Currently, G2’s financial details remain private.
