MOUZ acquire Brollan on loan

The German team MOUZ has announced that they have contracted Swedish rifler Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin on a loan from Ninjas in Pyjamas. After David “frozen” Čerňanský transferred to FaZe, the former FNATIC star filled in for the squad at the BLAST Premier World Final, and this news was made just a few weeks later. Brollan’s career hasn’t always been easy. Said to be among Sweden’s top riflers, he joined Ninjas in Pyjamas in March 2022. The organization recognized his unrealized potential and superstar ability upon his signing. But the team discovered that they were not living up to the hype, which dimmed the bright light that Brollan was meant to bring to Counter-Strike. Perhaps Brollan needs a shift in the team dynamic in order to reach his full potential. By stating in their release that they hope to create a distinctive personality and history with Brollan as an essential part of the lineup, Mouz seems to be setting the stage for a longer-term partnership.

In the announcement, Brollan shared his own sentiments as well, stating that he is driven to take home some championships with the squad in order to return to the top. In light of MOUZ’s showing at the Blast World Final in Abu Dhabi, Brollan might end up being a long-term asset to the squad. Despite Brollan serving as a stand-in for the tournament, the roster as a whole advanced to the semifinals, and he received ratings of 1.10 and 1.22 impact while helping MOUZ get a good performance in this event, where they lost to FaZe in 2 tight maps. With more extensive coaching and preparation, the team might be able to assemble in time for the 2024 Intel Extreme Masters and compete successfully.

MOUZ made a statement on their official website about the signing, where they said: “Brollan’s journey to MOUZ might not be entirely surprising to many of his fans, as he already showcased his prowess when he played as a stand-in during the BLAST World Final 2023. This not only provided a glimpse of his potential contribution to the team but also allowed fans to witness the chemistry he could build within the MOUZ lineup. The positive reception from this brief stint undoubtedly contributed to the decision to bring him on board, on loan.”

Fans are currently fond of the loan. Given that Brollan is not currently a member of the Ninjas in Pyjamas squad, comments on the choice have included calls to turn the loan into a long-term signing as well as appreciation for the ideal match of the loan. With just one month to go, MOUZ will need to make sure they are ready to demonstrate that their financing was a wise decision.

The first competition for MOUZ in 2024 is the European RMRs closed qualifier, which takes place on January 18–20. In the B qualification, they are the top-ranked team among Spirit, Eternal Fire, and Astralis, 3 other top-20 teams. The squad will play at IEM Katowice in Poland the following month, where they will go through the group round of the competition.
