Rekkles confirms his exit from T1

Rekkles has officially stated he will be leaving T1’s CL team and his role as the squad’s substitute ahead of his 2025 campaign. The news was revealed by the player himself, who shared a message via his social media platforms. It caught a lot of people off guard, especially since he had just helped T1 win the 2024 world championship as their main substitute. However, Rekkles anticipated this reaction, thus he took the time to explain his reasons for making this unexpected choice.

Rekkles via social media:
“When I received the offer from Becker last year to come to Korea and try out for the LCK CL team, I was not in a great place mentally. I had recently been diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum, and combined with a family accident and a couple of tough years since leaving Fnatic in 2020, I was struggling. Because of this, I was actually leaning toward taking a break for the 2024 season.”
Rekkles saw the opportunity to join T1, the top esports organization in League of Legends, as a huge deal making him the first import the organization has ever hired. However, he mentioned that being part of the team didn’t solve the problems, it merely postponed them.
Next steps
Rekkles is set to keep playing professionally, as he got an offer that lets him compete from home, with the community assuming it is an ERL organization. Although he didn’t specifically share details about his future plans, he did thank T1 and mentioned how much he appreciated his time living and playing in Korea.
“I want to play for as long as possible, and when I imagine the years ahead, I realize this change could help make that goal achievable. Longevity is incredibly important to me at this stage of my career”
