Sentinels demonstrated their abilities in the AfreecaTV VALORANT League‘s first game. Paper Rex was the opponent for the team. The top Singaporean squad, Paper Rex, faced off against the NA squad, Sentinels, which had performed poorly this season, in the opening game of Group A. Although the match was heated, the Americans unexpectedly prevailed, which raised many concerns about the effort of the runner-up in the world’s championship this year.

Paper Rex was the favorite going into the meeting, but they were unable to defend their selection, and they fell by a wide margin (7–13) on Breeze. Sentinels chose a less familiar map for the second round, Sunset, and lost with the same score of 7–13. The fight was intense and determined the outcome of the match on Haven. After trading rounds, the match concluded in overtime, with the Americans winning 15–13.

DRX and FULL SENSE squared off in the day’s second match. With a final score of 2-1, the Korean side prevailed in the match.

Sentinels defeated DRX 2-0 in the Group A winners game to become the 1st squad to secure a spot for the AfreecaTV Valorant League playoffs. Following their respective 2-1 victories, the teams squared off in their first-ever meeting.

DRX, the hometown favorites, after losing to Sentinels 2-0 earlier in the day, they moved to the elimination match, where a crushing 2-0 loss to Paper Rex ended their hopes of winning, and they finished in fifth and sixth place. Sentinels selected Map 1: Bind, where the American team has a 3-0 record ever since the map was brought back to the pool. Regardless of Zekken’s 1-11 performance and six early deaths on the attacking end, Sentinels managed to grab a tiny lead in the 1st half. Sentinels took the 2nd half pistol and eco, and their lead grew to 9-5. They then won 13-8 to take a 1-0 series lead. In the 2nd match, the teams met on Split, where DRX chose their favorite map from the previous year. TenZ, Zekken, and a crucial eco victory in round five gave DRX no hope, and Sentinels’ defense occasionally looked unbreakable. Sentinels jumped out to a 10-4 advantage after winning 4 consecutive pistol rounds.  BuZz heated up late to close the score at 11-11. After a furious thrifty round, Johnqt assisted Sentinels in reaching match point. However, DRX forced overtime under the Operator from BuZz. After exchanging offensive rounds in overtime, TenZ completed his 32-kill effort with a 4K and 1v2 clutch to give Sentinels the 2-0 win.

There other teams and matches played in the tournament as Team Liquid defeated Fancy United Esports 2-0 to take the lead in Group B of the AfreecaTV Valorant League. In order to decide who moves on to the playoffs, they will face T1 next.

T1 won against EDG 2-0, and Paper Rex prevailed against FULL SENSE 2-0 and DRX 2-0 to send them both home and qualify for playoffs.
