Sh1ro cuts ties with Cloud 9, moving into CS2’s transfer window

Cloud 9’s AWP superstar, Dmitriy “sh1ro” Sokolov, has decided to resign from the team’s Counter Strike 2 active roster with immediate effect. The organization has officially declared his availability for transfer, as announced via their official social media platform. Check out this article for the best information on esports predictions!

Sh1r0 has decided to depart from Cloud 9’s CS2 campaign after the team’s elimination in the group stage against Complexity at IEM Sydney. Cloud 9 had recently revamped their roster by adding Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy and Denis “electroNic” Sharipov back in July, in order to accommodate the lack of experience and in-game leadership in their previous lineup.

The CS2 community was in shock after learning of sh1ro’s decision, which comes on the heels of reports that Natus Vincere is also replacing their superstar AWPer s1mple with promising youngster w0nderful. In response, s1mple has announced he will be taking a break and is exploring opportunities with other organizations and roles outside of AWPer.

Within CS2 the AWP has not been performing up to par when compared to other guns, with several “misses” happening in the recent IEM Sydney event. Some players have attributed the gun’s accuracy to bad registry while others believe it is a matter of learning and adapting to the game’s new engine. Nevertheless, soon after IEM Sydney concluded, several AWPers have switched to using rifles mainly to see if they are able to currently have more impact in the server.

Sh1ro has been consistently playing with the same group of players for more than four years, starting from 2019 when they competed as Gambit Youngsters. In early 2020, the team was promoted to the main roster within the Gambit organization and emerged as one of the leading teams in 2021, securing several significant titles and making it to the semifinals of the PGL Stockholm Major. However, in 2022, due to the sanctions imposed on Russia after their political situation arised, the core players joined Cloud 9, but unfortunately, they did not achieve the same level of success under the white and blue banner.

The Russian exit from Cloud 9 marks the most recent development in a highly eventful transfer window surrounding the launch of CS2. Numerous teams have undergone significant transformations, while several prominent figures are contemplating or have already committed to major transfers and even retirements.

Cloud 9 urgently needs to secure a temporary substitute as they are set to face Fnatic in the Thunderpick World Championship this week. Unfortunately there aren’t many star AWPers available on the market, with Cloud 9 most likely looking at a temporary solution instead of a long term signing this time around.
