The Guard Fires Every Single Employee

Many reports surfaced claiming that The Guard, a well-known esports, gaming, and entertainment organization based in LA, had fired “every single employee.Nearly every employee, including management staff, social teams, creative teams, and content creators, has reportedly been fired from the top down. There is currently no confirmation of what is taking place with The Guard’s esports squads.

The LA Guerrillas (Call of Duty League) and the LA Gladiators (Overwatch League) are two important teams that compete under the name The Guard. As of right now, neither of these teams’ social media accounts has provided any updates on the situation. Nothing can be established by looking at the social media profiles of the individual players. For instance, Arcitys, the frontman for LA Guerrillas, tweeted an image but nothing else ten, which isn’t exactly mysterious.

The Guard’s former employees haven’t hesitated to express their grief on social media in the wake of a sudden and unexpected wave of layoffs. The gaming and esports industries are currently experiencing a widespread trend in which numerous companies aggressively lay off sizable portions of their workforces. Recently, Riot Games fired a number of staff, Microsoft fired hundreds of workers across its Xbox division, and 100 Thieves freed its creators.

It’s reasonable to say that no one anticipated this action, which is a complete surprise. Only six hours earlier, The Guard innocently shared a VALORANT clip on Twitter before quickly firing the staff member who had submitted the video (most likely). The Guard was actively hiring new employees within the departments that it has terminated as recently as ten days ago, underscoring the suddenness of the decision.

Fans, critics, and reporters from all over the business are waiting for one thing as this story develops: an explanation. This choice is thought to have been made by the parent company of The Guard, Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, which is led by businessman Stan Kroenke, who is said to have a net worth of $13 billion. In addition to The Guard, KSE is the owner of the LA Rams, Denver Nuggets, and Arsenal FC, as well as a number of colossal stadiums around the globe.

I feel bad for everyone laid off, especially the people who just moved there. https://t.co/tYTbHwYhfd

The Guard is doing a really terrible job of addressing the situation. On Twitter, the well-known content creator Ariel Ben-Abraham described how on-site security was attempting to prevent him from leaving the event while he was trying to back up vital files on his laptop before leaving. It is quite improbable that KSE is experiencing financial difficulties; therefore, it is possible that there is a more complex explanation for the sudden and unexpected dismissal of an entire esports company.
