These Are The Best Teams At MSI 2023

Now that the Spring Splits are over, the top teams can prepare for the Mid-Season Invitational, the first international League of Legends competition of 2023. We’ll be taking a look at the very best heading into the tournament.

What makes this year’s MSI so exciting is that it will have a significant format change from previous years, with more teams from key regions competing and double-elimination brackets to increase teams’ chances of advancing in the competition. Therefore, the future may bring about some significant shocks.

1. Bilibili Gaming

When it comes to Chinese teams, JD Gaming will be the center of attention, but BLG will be the underdog among the best teams. The squad has a ton of potential, but it still needs some refining as evidenced by the significant strides they made during the LPL Spring Playoffs. Elk, one of the year’s rising stars, will remain the foundation of BLG. Their actions, together with those of Bin and ON, will determine how far the squad may advance.

Although there may be a few minor reservations about how Yagao will compare to the other top mid laners in the world, he is capable of defeating them. We could witness the most thrilling 4-way matchup at MSI ever if everything falls into place for BLG. They are however anticipated to at least advance to the playoff round. When things start to get serious, it will then depend on what they can deliver.

2. T1

When Gen.G defeated T1, it came as quite a shock because everyone anticipated that T1 would represent LCK’s #1 seed at MSI. We believe that T1’s true level is different from what we saw during the finals, therefore despite the setback, they still appear to be in good shape. Due to the poorer drafts they received, T1 appeared to be weaker overall. Zeus had some moments he rarely has.

T1 must find a method to play to their advantages while simultaneously adhering as closely as they can to the meta. It will be up to Gumayusi to take the lead on the international stages since Keria is still the best support in the entire globe. T1 still has promise, and we think they have an equal opportunity with Gen.G to compete for the title. However, given that we haven’t seen much of them yet and that their preparation and meta read will be essential, we can only rank them third in our MSI Power Rankings.

3. Gen.G

The next team in the MSI rankings is Gen,G, who represents Korea’s best opportunity to defeat JD Gaming this year. Gen.G performed the unfathomable by beating Faker’s team to win their back-to-back championships although most predicted T1 to win the LCK Spring Playoffs. Gen.G promoted Peyz after Ruler left, and Peyz is demonstrating to everyone that he isn’t much worse than his predecessor. He was mostly responsible for Gen.G’s victory over T1 in the finals, and despite his youth, he already seems poised to rule the entire planet.

The fact that the meta is still bot-centric yet more picks favor Gen.G’s top side of the map is the reason why I believe they will become more powerful. Peanut is prepared to demonstrate that he has what it takes to win the competition with selections like Poppy and Nidalee. The way he and Peyz perform will determine their chances of winning.

4. JDG

JDG is the team that, in our opinion, is in the strongest position going into MSI. Beginning with the 2023 season, the organization made the bold choice to select Ruler, who was most likely the greatest ADC in 2018. Additionally, JD Gaming has retained the remaining members of its lineup: 369, Kanavi, Knight, and Missing. Ruler did a superb job of blending in right away and boosted the squad to new levels with his carry playstyle.

However, the other players are not significantly worse. Each JDG player has the potential to rank among the top four in their respective positions. The pressure will be on JD Gaming because of their roster and the objectives they set at the beginning of the year. They should be anticipated to go to the championship game, and they now appear to be the favorites.
