The 2023 season is definitely showing to be one of the most exciting ones of professional VALORANT as of yet, with the beginning of the partnership league in February at the tournament held in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
All teams that received a partnership spot got a bye to the front of the competition during the free agency period after Champions 2022, and of course, huge roster moves happened. Several organizations decided to rebuild brand-new squads, some just tinkered around their staple star, while others decided to stick to what they already know for 2023.
Today we are going to take a look at what we think are the best VALORANT teams going into next year.
DRX
The star-studded Korean lineup, consisting of former undefeated juggernauts of Asian VALORANT back in Vision Strikers, sadly looked shaky in 2022. However at last were able to finally showcase their talent on the international level. Nevertheless, at the coveted Champions 2022, the early playoff collapse curse was broken. DRX would end up 3rd, on top of grabbing 2 wins over Copenhagen champions FPX.
DRX’s dynamic duo of BuZz and MaKo is an incredible combination of talent. Whether it is BuZz on Jett/Chamber showing his aggression, or MaKo as the experienced controller player, there is no doubt in the community that DRX will be able to show up once more as a favorite.
Fnatic
Fnatic managed to keep their championship-level roster together after the 2022 off-season period started. The usual faces are all in place: the energy of the team in Boaster, the swift finger Operator in Derke, and a true rising star in Alfajer. Success is just a matter of how Fnatic decided to fill the 2 missing pieces in conjunction with their known core, and they brought 2 superstars into their ranks for it.
Leo is one of the most impactful and intelligent initiators in the league, and Fnatic took notice of that. He captained the entirety of Masters Copenhagen in kill-assist-survive-trade percent with 79%. As for the second player we have, Chronicle, he is the definition of a playmaker as he is incredibly flexible around his teammates.
Cloud 9
Cloud 9 moved fast and aggressively in the offseason, acquiring the likes of VALORANT‘s most known superstar player Jacob “yay” Whiteaker. Yay will hopefully fit well enough into the Cloud 9 core of vanity, Xeppaa, and leaf.
The value that comes with a Yay signup is quite obvious to see, as he brings everything a team needs to the table. But the push Cloud 9 made that deserves more recognition is the Zellsis pickup. He’s a flex player that can fill quite a lot of different team roles, finish clutch situations, and even provide information as a shot-caller.
