These Are The Upcoming CSGO Tournaments After IEM Rio
Now that IEM Rio 2023 is over, we can finally look ahead to what competitive CSGO has in store for the upcoming few weeks. These players are competing for a chance to go down in history by winning the final CSGO tournaments that will take place before CS2.
While most people’s attention is focused on the Major, there is still enough of Tier-2 Counter-Strike to enjoy in the interim. Up till Paris, the main one is the CCT series, which is currently airing its South Europe, West Europe, Central Europe, and South America Series.
Sure, while you won’t get to see FaZe and NAVI in these kinds of events, there are still some familiar names for fans of competitive CSGO. Competition includes B8, who made an impression at the Major RMR, as well as Copenhagen Flames, thus the level of CSGO is still very high.
Furthermore, a sizable portion of the game’s Tier-2 scene is currently participating in the Elisa Invitational Spring 2023. It is ideal for big CSGO fans who want to watch as much gameplay as possible because it runs from now until early June.
Naturally, the majority of CSGO fans are now entirely focused on the BLAST Paris Major 2023 on TV. It makes sense because it’s the last CSGO Major before CS2 takes over. It promises to be a huge event. There will be a bittersweet element to it all, as there always is with endings. Numerous renowned teams won’t be attending because of the absence of Cloud9, Virtus.pro, and Astralis.
It’s going to be a banger of a tournament, starting on May 8th with the Challenger’s Stage. Many illustrious players, like NiKo, will view it as their final opportunity to solidify their CSGO legacy. How could something with such enormous stakes not be entertaining?
Waiting a few weeks for a major tournament to start is never enjoyable. But with so many players recently voicing their displeasure with the demanding schedule, it is more important than ever to pay attention to their health and give them time to rest.
Teams will regrettably not have much time to rest and recover after the Paris Major. They’ll start working hard right away in preparation for IEM Dallas 2023. Cloud9 won the Dallas competition last year, and they have the entire Major to continue practicing and defending their crown.
The IEM Dallas 2023 tournament will begin at the end of May and be less prominent than the Major. Make no mistake though – this is still an S-Tier event, with an enormous grand prize that will have players at the top of their game. The opportunity to create a mini-era at the end of CSGO also exists if the team that wins the Paris Major ultimately qualifies for Dallas.
The exact date that CS2 will take over in competitive play is unknown. What we do know is that PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 is slated for March 2024, and is confirmed to be the first CS2 Major. Prior to that, it will need to go through numerous test runs to make sure everything operates without a hitch.
We assume it will enter competitive use about the same time the game launches, which is tentatively scheduled for summer 2023. That gives plenty of time to ensure that the inaugural CS2 Major runs without a hitch. One thing is for sure – there’s never been a more exciting time to be a fan of competitive Counter-Strike, and the scene is only going to keep on growing over the next couple of years.
