Top Most Accomplished League of Legends Teams of All Time

League of Legends is still the most popular esports game of all time. It acts as a definite attraction for new players and the best League of Legends teams in the world alike, to be a source of inspiration for the young generations coming into the scene.

Over the span of its lifetime, many organizations and players have risen to the next level, winning regional leagues and international tournaments multiple times. The LoL Worlds and Mid Season Invitational tournaments provided any team with the chance to prove their worth on the international scene against other juggernauts.

League of Legends features 2 international tournaments yearly

Success however, isn’t permanent and getting to the top is only half of the challenge itself as what is almost impossible is to remain in that spot. To be introduced into a League of Legends “Hall of Fame” by the community’s opinion, teams need to definitely show not only talent but also consistency and resilience against hardship.

With that in mind, we will take a look at the most accomplished teams of all time, this based on results and time where they were prevalent within their regions and internationally.

T1 – Korea

T1 at the Season 3 League of Legends World Championship

We need to start this list with most likely the best overall organization of all time. Bringing 5 international titles, T1 seemingly abhor the idea of possible failure. Their opponents are constantly in fear no matter what active roster they are going up against, because the smallest misstep can lead to T1 taking over the game, as soon as that happens, they never let go until they reach the victory screen.

Every single player or viewer knows about T1, no matter the time period they were introduced to the competitive scene, that just goes to show how important they are within the industry.

A core to the team’s success is T1’s ability to keep the greatest player in the world under their roster, Faker, for such a long time as he is literally a one club player at this point of time. The man is a competitive God, and his combination of razor sharp mechanics and out of the box game sense were enough to push T1 to this level.

Nevertheless, T1 has been in a small slump in recent years, however with the most recent Worlds finals appearance with a young roster we know they are coming back for the title. For major tournaments or an LCK split, anyone that’s into lol bets team power rankings knows not to count out T1 from the top.

Royal Never Give Up – China

The 2021 MSI Royal Never Give Up roster

RNG is a team that consistently stands at the top of most League of Legends bets team power rankings since their inception, and somehow, it’s only in 2018 that RNG won their first international title. But what they lack in international success, RNG makes up through stellar mechanical showings.

Whether it’s IEM, MSI, or even Worlds, you can definitely bet on RNG to make a deep run through the tournament and challenge top League of Legends teams with ease. Definitely 2018 was their most impressive year to date, as Royal Never Give Up won a stunning 5 out of 6 competitions they attended during that year.

To assure its position as the best LoL team in China, they need to do more in the consistency department, as recently they did win the last two MSIs however lack results in between those tournaments. For the time being, they are well positioned to impress again at Worlds 2022. The driving force behind their success was their superstar AD carry, Uzi (who currently is playing for BLG Esports).

Another thing to note is that RNG never misses an opportunity to upgrade their roster, via big buyouts. At different points in time, they have contracted top tier players like inSec, Mata, NaMei, and Xiaohu. This lethal duo of ambition and smart economical management makes Royal Never Give Up a candidate for the title of best League of Legends team of all time.

Fnatic – Europe

Fnatic on the 2018 Worlds stage

Fnatic by far has a rich history as one of the best League of Legends teams, especially in the old competitive days. Their competitive journey started with a victory at the first ever Riot Games official World Championship, and it got even crazier as years went by. Nevertheless, old school LoL fans will remember the xPeke days and the clutch outplays that came with them. Back at that point in time, they were the best League of Legends team in Europe and one of the best LoL teams in the world.

What’s interesting, is that Fnatic became even stronger after losing their captain due to his decision of retiring, and the following roster remains one of the most commanding European lineups in LoL esports history, which included: Bwipo, Broxah, Caps, Rekkles, and Hylissang.

They also have a great international record and can defeat even the best League of Legends if they wake up on the right side of the bed. You can always hope Fnatic will hold their ground against the best League of Legends teams in the world, especially in international tournaments. Their second place finish back in the 2018 League of Legends World Championships showed the community that the organization is still able to pump results, showing EU is able to still battle with top regions like China and Korea.

After a small performance slump in 2020, Fnatic has performed strongly in the LEC 2022 season despite losing their top spot. Outside of this, they managed to hold a minimum of 3rd place in almost all tournaments around Europe. Entering the League of Legend World Championships, Fnatic were rather unlucky multiple times as they were drafted in “groups of death”. Nevertheless, they had miraculously defeated strong teams like SKT and RNG , narrowly allowing them to advance into the playoffs within international tournaments. They will have another opportunity at 2022 Worlds if they continue their current upwards progress.

Team Liquid – North America

Team Liquid’s 2019 League of Legends roster

Since their inception, Team Liquid was rarely, if ever, included in the conversation about great League of Legends lineups or organizations. The organization obviously has a lot of success in other esports scenes, but crazily enough they struggled to find a foundation in the world of LoL esports. Team Liquid were for many years the best League of Legends team in the LCS by quite a longshot. Now they are challenged for this position by multiple teams who seem to be making huge strides such as Cloud9, 100Thieves, and Evil Geniuses.

After finding themselves on the edge of relegation back in 2018, Team Liquid went above and beyond to put together a superstar lineup of Impact, Xmithie, Pobelter, Doublelift, and Olleh to hopefully be at the standard they were hoping for. These players led them to consecutive LCS trophies, finally cementing the organization as the best League of Legends team in the North America region.

Despite their grandiose domestic results, they had a hard time holding their own at international tournaments, and the organization wasn’t going to stand for that. Around 2019, Team Liquid brought in Jensen and CoreJJ to replace Pobelter and Olleh. The new roster clicked immediately, and Team Liquid took over North America to produce their third consecutive LCS title, it is also important to note that the incorporation of CoreJJ might be the best signing of League of Legends history (outside of Faker).

They kept the momentum going at the MSI 2019 tournament, and while they couldn’t get the first place trophy, their semi finals victory over the reigning world champions Invictus Gaming finally made them one of the top League of Legends teams in the West, and the best result the NA region has ever seen.

Since Doublelift left for TSM and later decided to retire, TL lost the dominant position in the LCS to Cloud9 and later 100Thieves. Currently, they rebuilt on paper, one of the best rosters NA has ever seen: Bwipo, Santorin, Bjergsen, Hans Sama, and CoreJJ, and are looking to push their dominance once more on the rift.

G2 Esports – Europe

G2’s 2019 League of Legends roster

When it comes to the top League of Legends team, it’s important to take into account a long standing history of competitive success. Ever since they qualified for the EU LCS back in the day, G2 Esports absolutely stomped their way above the competition.

Their exciting play style combined refined strategies and absolute mechanical execution, resulting in a perfect mixture of brains, and hands. The lineup of Wunder, Jankos, Caps, Perks and Mithy was one of a kind, and it’s rare to find players that will perfectly synergize with each other like they did. Together they formed the best LoL team in Europe for more than 7 years. In 2021, they were disappointing and ultimately outplayed by MAD Lions (a team with a similar chaotic playstyle) at every stage of the LEC.

A top 4 finish at Worlds 2018 and a victory against the tournament favorites in RNG were good signs of greater things to come. G2 looked for new blood in 2019, as they signed a mid lane juggernaut that is Caps while swapping their previous mid laner Perkz to the bot lane position.

And while many thought this move was a fluke, G2 put these doubts to ease by finishing first at the 2019 MSI and forever establishing themselves as one of the greatest LoL esports teams of all time. They were favorites to win Worlds in the same year, something we haven’t seen before coming from a western region, but sadly fell in the final stage of the tournament to FPX.

G2 encountered plenty of bumps in their road to success, however their ability to overcome these hardships earned them the name of “Kings of Europe”. One of their biggest upsets was failing to claim a title in the Worlds stage.

They were unable to qualify for Worlds 2021, which is one of the biggest shocks in the organization’s history. Recent struggles are undeniably frustrating, nevertheless their new inclusions in Broken Blade, Flakked, and Targamas definitely look to shake things up for the better. But for their overall performance, G2 Esports deserves a place on the list.

That’s it for our list of the most accomplished league of legends teams of all time and we hope you enjoyed the reading. Remember that when it comes to League of Legends betting, it’s important to keep in mind the history of each team. It’s a clear indicator on just how good an organization is at building rosters, which is vital when making your esports picks.
