With a 2-1 record and one victory away from guaranteeing a berth in the group stage, Tundra Esports is having a great time at the Elite League Swiss Stage. In the interview with TeaGuvnor conducted at the PGL Wallachia Season 1 Western Europe closed qualifiers, Topson recently said that the Dota 2 community was using builds and hero choices more creatively than they had in the past. He stated: “I think nowadays people are pretty innovative, and everything that… I also play. I’m sure a lot of people have done it before like the sniper build from XM, from which team I can’t remember. Anyway, yeah, the Chinese support the void and stuff like that. Yeah, I mean, a lot of these builds are just like, see something cool and I’m like, ‘Oh, this is a cool idea, maybe I can follow up on it, you know?’”

Elite League is divided into three divisions and starts with a Swiss format, in contrast to most events that start with a group stage. Teams with identical records are paired together in the Swiss style. Teams with one victory and no losses go up against one another. When asked about the Swiss format, Topson said that while time is a problem, it is generally good. He also said: “I guess the only downside I have is that we don’t know our opponent [until] end of the day, and we don’t know what time we’re playing so like yesterday at 11 PM we know that we’re playing at 11 AM but other than that I think it’s been great.”

Over time, the Dota 2 community has witnessed an increase in creative builds for heroes. This might be attributed to the growth in Dota 2 content creation, as specific YouTubers are always creating unique builds to experiment with on heroes.
