TSM GM responds to pay cut reports on League of Legends squad
The LCS League of Legends community is absolutely in awe after several reports were released mentioning that TSM is considering moving away from the league. Speculation started to rise around the team and their issues outside in game performances, however the team’s general manager has spoken up and brought to light more information on one specific rumor posted by esports journalist Travis Gafford.
According to Gafford’s report, sources communicated to him that TSM had offered minimum salaries to all of their starting players after the conclusion of the 2023 Spring Split. On top of that, the players were reportedly given a small 24 hour time frame to make an immediate decision on their career within TSM and choose to either accept the terms with the organization or try their luck at the free agency market.

Responding to the reports and rumors, general manager Jeff “SuiJeneris” Chau published a statement on the TSM subreddit refuting all the claims and allegations.
Orgs like 100T, TSM, CLG, FaZe, and the Guard are only a few that are leaving or restructuring their esports ops. Expenses are high, with orgs paying salaries, housing/facilities, equipment, travel, pr, and legal, doesn’t include multi-million $ expansion fees for franchises

Within the reddit post, he directly states none of the League of Legends players were paid or even offered a contract with minimum salaries/compensation. Additionally, SuiJeneris also claimed the players were given a space of several days to make a decision on their current spot in TSM, plus all members were told the organization would not search for replacements until the lineup managed to make a decision on the contract.
Chau was not able to provide context or a response for the rest of the rumors, with fans still wondering about the overall TSM situation and their possible LCS exit. Nevertheless, he did promise to shed light on any false reports directly to the community moving forward.
While the community waits for more information around TSM’s spot in the LCS, all attention has switched over to another old school organization going through tough times. Right besides TSM, Counter Logic Gaming is also reportedly selling their LCS franchise slot, with rumors stating the organization will be closing its doors on all of its esports divisions rather soon.
Thoughts about the rumors that Reginald is pulling TSM from the LCS to hurt the LCS? I mean, it’s working whether that was the intended result or not.
I think that franchising was a greedy thing for LCS to do. It came at the expense of competitive integrity and fan enjoyment.

As of the moment, there is still a plethora of time left until the start of the LCS 2023 Summer Split, and the community are still waiting patiently for an official announcement from TSM’s board. The team’s CEO Andy “Reginald” Dinh has been absolutely lambasted by the community for the constant dismissings in communication, nevertheless hopefully, the esports veteran will finally share more context around the issues and what has gone wrong for one of the most historical organizations in LCS history.
At the time of writing no further information has been released by TSM.
