Two players we expect to pop off in the 2023 VCT Game Changers season
Last year left us wanting for more VCT Game Changers gameplay, with the highest grossing inclusive tournament showcasing not only incredible talent but also amazing storylines. These storylines of the VALORANT Game Changers Champions Tour in 2022 were absolutely breathtaking. From clutch plays to ACEs, VALORANT viewers had plenty of content to watch last time around.
As we now prepare to move into a newly set franchised Valorant Game Changers Champions Tour as well as another competitive season, we explored and set our sights on 2 players that we think are going to continue their dominance in the 2023 season.
After looking at a rollercoaster season filled with ups and downs, we believe these players have shown more than enough to deserve a spotlight and either a new or repeat title in the new competitive season.
As a player we definitely think of her as a popoff machine, with incredible plays mainly in LAN events.
Sonder and her teammates on the Shopify Rebellion Game Changers squad were more than well known names in the VCT competitive scene going into 2022. And through the last tournaments of the season, they became the runner up team that sadly continued to fall into second place against Cloud 9 White, who literally won every single Game Changers trophy on home soil.
However, Shopify Rebellion broke the second place curse in a surprising turn of events, and a key piece of that huge performance was mastermind sonder, who continuously won trades versus all Cloud 9 White players in multiple maps of the series.
–Mary
What can we say about Mary, she is the 16 year old VALORANT mechanical prodigy who rose to stardom after her star like performance in the VCT Game Changers competitive scene while being part of EMEA’s G2 Gozen lineup.
Mary, who is originally a native from Bahrain, signed with the German based squad right after their longtime veteran and leader zAAz retired at the half of the 2022 season. ZAAz was a 31 year old veteran whose departure provided Mary an incredible chance to step up to the plate.
Mary not only came into the tense VCT Game Changers competitive scene halfway through the season for G2 Gozen, but also stepped up to the plate with only sixteen, the minimum age required to be part of VCT competition. She showed her mechanical prowess on the Chamber meta, but most importantly showcased the maturity to be a part of the best Game Changers team in the world.
Her biggest highlight was in G2 Gozens’s reverse sweep to take the title from Shopify’s hands in the final Game Changers championship game.
