Top duelist Lizhi was sidelined by health concerns, therefore the Chao Hui EDG roster played their first international competition with a setback. Blue was chosen by EDG as a stand-in player for their run in Brazil.
Shopify outperformed the competitors on its map pick Haven. After winning the pistol round and converting, the team won the second half 11-1 and won the map 13-1.
Shopify produced more of the same in Sunset, winning the series 2-0 after converting an easy 10-2 first half lead into a 13-2 map triumph. Noia maintained her 1.99 rating and 24 kills in only 15 rounds, matching her previous map’s performance.
Throughout the series, noia and fluorescent topped their team’s scoreboard, with 1.85 and 1.84 series ratings, respectively, and more than 200 ADR.
In keeping with the second day of the Game Changers Championship, BBL Queens defeated KRÜ BLAZE 2-0. In the first map, Sunset, they overcame a slow start to mount a strong comeback, while in the second map, Bind, they blew a sizable lead before finding their rhythm in the closing moments to secure a close win. BBL had a rocky beginning, but they rapidly picked up six straight wins to lead 7–5 at the break. After shifting to the attacker side, BBL maintained their supremacy, winning the last two rounds of the map 13-7 while conceding only two rounds to opponents.
In the second map, BBL dominated the first half to take a 9-2 lead. Despite a late rally by KRÜ and a few clutch kills from Micaela, BBL managed to cling on to win the map 13-11 thanks to a Vania 4k in round 22.
The top bracket’s victors squared off in the last game of the Game Changers Championship Day 2. On Bind, SMG played defense to begin map 1, and after a back-and-forth play, they came out on top 7–5. SMG went on to win 4 of the last five rounds, taking the opponent’s map pick 13–8.
On SMG’s map choice, Split, G2 Gozen appeared unstoppable despite losing the first one. This time, G2 got off to a defensive start and steadily increased their lead throughout the first half, finishing at 8-4. But SMG immediately got back into it. The game eventually went into overtime after they won seven straight rounds to establish an 11-10 advantage. G2 Gozen advanced to the series finale in overtime as they were able to adjust more quickly and win Split 14–12.
In the last map of play, Haven, G2 Gozen established a significant advantage once more. But this time, SMG was unable to mount a comeback, and after a commanding 13-4 game, G2 took the map and the series.
There’s still plenty of matches coming up in the next few days and the battle is expected to be competitive and entertaining in São Paulo Brazil.
