VALORANT’s iconic rivalry continues to showcase incredible talent – NRG vs LOUD

Fate continues to do his bidding in favor of South America, recently coming out as the winners of the now iconic rivalry, versus their opponents in NRFG at VCT LOCK//IN, the first official international VALORANT tournament of the 2023 season.

The match between the juggernauts LOUD and NRG showcased 2 of the best teams in the world going head-to-head against each other with brand-new strategies and playstyles. Each map was exciting with both teams attempting to out each other and punish any mistake they see in the battlefield.

This time around South America’s LOUD was victorious on the 1st map of the series, while NRG managed to push a map point on the second to even the scoreline. However ultimately LOUD was too much for the North American organization, taking the third map and bringing “El Clasico” back to Brazil.

This incredible rivalry started back in 2022 at VCT Stage 1 Masters hosted in Reykjavík, Iceland. The Reykjavik tournament was the first major event that placed the LOUD core against the former OpTic core, with mechanical talents such as yay and Marved being part of the brand.

The 2nd match between the 2 in the grand final ended with OpTic taking the series to win the competition, sending LOUD packing as the 2nd best team in the world. It was ’s first VCT LAN championship on VALORANT, as well as NA’s first major VALORANT trophy since Sentinels won the 2021 edition of Masters Reykjavik.

Soon after at VCT Stage 2 Masters hosted in Copenhagen, Denmark, later that year in July, LOUD would, unfortunately, come up short once more versus OpTic. However this time around it was a huge blow for the Brazilian squad, as they were sent home as joint 12th place beside XERXIA Esports, a result nobody expected from the squad.

Lastly, we move into VCT Champions back in September of 2022, the biggest and most competitive event of the VALORANT season, LOUD battled head to head once more against OpTic a total of three times in the same tournament. Even after being defeated in the first instance of the encounter, LOUD managed to respond when it truly mattered. Ultimately, LOUD was able to finally take down their long-time rivals OpTic in the grand finals to be crowned VALORANT World Champions.

In 2023 it seems they still maintain their status as one of the best in the world, even after core players from their 2022 campaign moved to other organizations looking for bigger salaries. As for OpTic, they sadly were unable to secure a partnership, thus 3 players signed with NRG while their main star yay decided to shake hands with Cloud 9.
