The VCT China offseason has brought significant changes to two of the region’s teams as they gear up for Stage 1. FPX’s New Addition

After Zhang “BerLIN” Bolin left the starting lineup, Phoenix formally signed Shr1mp. The decision follows FPX’s poor performance in the China Kickoff competition, which led to a difficult start to the year. The need for reform was brought to light by FPX’s early elimination at the hands of Dragon Ranger Gaming in 2024, despite the squad having a successful season that saw them qualify for all three international tournaments.

Shr1mp, who demonstrated his Initiator talents at Qing Jiu Club, joins FPX. His agent pool, which consists of Skye, Sova, Breach, and KAY/O, gives FPX’s roster a new aspect. However, the signing also signals a shift in roles, as BerLIN primarily played the Controller position. To address this, Autumn will take over in game leading duties, adding another layer of adjustment for the squad.

With Shr1mp in the mix, FPX hopes to turn the page on their recent struggles and recapture the form that made them one of China’s top teams last season.

TYLOO’s New Direction

TYLOO has also decided to shuffle up its roster, parting ways with Eren following a disastrous 2025 Kickoff campaign. Eren, who joined the squad at the beginning of last year, recently shifted to the Duelist role but had few chances to distinguish himself until TYLOO’s early elimination from China Kickoff.

In his place, TYLOO has brought on waituu from Xtreme Gaming. The young talent has already been seen playing with the team in the China Evolution Series: Act 1, where he exclusively played Astra. His arrival prompted a reshuffle of TYLOO’s roles, with 5CM flexing between Omen and Killjoy, while Ninebody took over Duelist duties.

The addition of waituu represents a fresh start for TYLOO as they look to improve on their 8th-place finish from last year. With Stage 1 set to begin on March 13th, the organization will have little time to integrate their new lineup before the action kicks off.

Both FPX and TYLOO are counting on their fresh acquisitions to boost their lineups ahead of the VCT China Stage 1. While FPX aims to return to the top tier of Chinese Valorant, TYLOO hopes to rise up the ranks and establish itself as a playoff contender. The forthcoming stage will be a critical test for both sides as they adjust to their new dynamics in quest of international qualification.
