Vitality’s Era Begins With Utter Domination
Team Vitality absolutely dismantled reigning champions Team Spirit in a brutal 3-0 sweep to claim the IEM Katowice 2025 title. Coming into the tournament, Spirit looked untouchable, having dominated the scene for months. But in the Grand Final, they ran into a brick wall.

From the opening round, Vitality was flawless. Their confidence was sky high, their game plan was airtight, and they completely dictated the pace of the series. Spirit never found their rhythm, constantly struggling to adapt to Vitality’s relentless pressure. This wasn’t just a win, it was a statement.
At the heart of it all was, of course, ZywOo, whose MVP-worthy performance reminded everyone why he remains one of the best players in the world. But beyond him, apEX delivered a vintage masterclass. At 31 years old, the veteran outfragged both flameZ and mezii, proving that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level. With contributions across the board, this was a team-wide demolition job.
Spirit Exposed, Can’t Win Without donk Carrying?
While all credit goes to Vitality for their dominant performance, this final also exposed Spirit’s biggest weakness, their complete reliance on donk to carry them. When he’s playing at his usual superhuman level, Spirit looks unstoppable. But when he’s shut down, as he was in this series, the team falls apart.

Vitality had a clear plan, neutralize donk, and the rest of Spirit won’t have enough firepower to compete. And it worked perfectly. Donk was kept in check, unable to pull off the ridiculous multi-kill rounds that usually drag Spirit to victory. He had his moments, but it wasn’t enough to carry the team single handedly.
This raises serious questions for Spirit moving forward. It is not a viable plan to rely heavily on one person. They need more consistency from the rest of their roster if they want to stay at the top. Nevertheless, Magixx continues to perform effectively in critical situations, displaying his capacity to be a reliable backup star. However, it proved inadequate to prevent Vitality from assuming the throne.
The “Vitality with ropz” era has officially begun with this crucial IEM Katowice victory. However, Spirit must restart from scratch.
