Only 13 games into the 2023 season, 100 Thieves fired Christophe “Kaas” van Oudheusden as their head League of Legends coach. 100 Thieves, who were tipped as potential LCS title contenders before the season, have had a disappointing start to the year, requiring a coaching staff overhaul.
The squad has appointed assistant coach and former LEC mid laner Nukeduck to the role of head coach in Kaas’ place. Danny “Dandan” Le Comte, the head coach of 100 Thieves’ Challengers-level team, has also been promoted to the main LCS team.

The illustrious League of Legends team 100 Thieves is in danger of missing the playoffs in the 2023 LCS Spring Split with a dismal 5-8 record after their most recent defeat to Counter Logic Gaming.
100 Thieves Have Lost Seven Of Their Last Eight
The team’s performance over the last eight games has been inconsistent, and they have only defeated Team Liquid once. The Thieves have fallen so far short of the expectations that were placed on them at the beginning of 2023, whether they are constructing for the late game with a scaling composition or attempting to dominate the first minutes of a match with an early game strategy.
Even while their individual stats aren’t necessarily poor, the team’s three veterans Closer, Bjergsen, and Doublelift have struggled this season. Their team play is at best sloppy, and according to League stats aggregator Oracle’s Elixir, they presently have the fourth-lowest average gold difference at 15 minutes of any team in the league.
At the same time, the rookies haven’t been playing very well, with Busio leading all LCS supports in deaths. Tenacity, on the other hand, despite piloting choices like Jax, Fiora, and K’Sante, is providing the second-lowest average damage to champions per minute in his role.
100 Thieves must address their concerns and find a solution to their early-game struggles with only two weeks left in the 2023 Spring Split, especially with teams like TSM and Liquid vying for the final playoff place and sixth and final spot, respectively. If they want a shot at the LCS championship, they cannot afford to lose any more games.

It feels like we’ve talked a lot about 100 Thieves, but it had to be done. The Thieves were heading into the 2023 LCS Spring Split as one of the most talked-about teams, and for a good reason. Unfortunately for them, they have failed to meet the expectations in a very disappointing manner.
On the other hand, there is not much need to be said about Golden Guardians. In the past, we’ve talked about how they are leading the league in multiple stats. They had a seven-game winning streak, until Team Liquid snapped it. That said, they have won eight out of their last nine, which is basically an opposite form compared to 100 Thieves.
The Thieves still have a lot to work on, especially their early game, which is one of the strongest points for the Guardians. This game should be pretty one-sided and GG should be able to keep the ball rolling till the split ends.
