North America Will Clash Against Europe
We’ll have a North America vs Europe encounter for the Pinnacle Cup Championship Group B opening match. Astralis is one of the teams that couldn’t reach the playoffs at the recent IEM Dallas 2022 as they were eliminated by G2 Esports in the lower bracket semifinals.
But that wasn’t the only time that Astralis failed to meet the expectations as they also couldn’t make it into the legends stage at the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 after dropping their elimination match against North America’s Team Liquid. Now they’ll have the opportunity to claim revenge over NA, now against Evil Geniuses.
EG is a team that we haven’t seen appear at a big event for quite a while now as they failed to qualify for both the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 and the IEM Dallas 2022. In fact, the last time we saw the organization find success at a big event was over 2 years ago, and their roster was completely different.
Now Evil Geniuses are looking to leave North America’s name in a good light as they’ll be facing up against Astralis, a team that’s been having issues against the best teams in the world, but also against weaker teams.
Astralis Hasn’t Won a Tournament in Over 533 Days
The last time we saw Astralis pick up a title was back in December 20, 2020, when they defeated Team Liquid at the IEM Global Challenge grand finals in a 3-0 manner. Since then, Astralis has struggled time and time against not only the best teams in the world, but also against teams that look much weaker than them, at least on paper.
Looking back at the IEM Dallas 2022, Astralis got knocked down to the lower bracket by Team Vitality after a 16-12 loss, although that result wasn’t completely unexpected. They now had to win 3 series in a row if they wanted to qualify for the playoffs, which we all knew was going to be a very hard task, if not impossible.
The Danish squad didn’t struggle at all when facing Oceania’s Encore, but obviously that encounter would be a walk in the park when compared to their next opponents, G2 Esports. Astralis headed into the lower bracket semifinals as the clear underdogs, and while they managed to score a win in the series, it wasn’t enough and they got eliminated after a disappointing performance.
According to many cs-go betting experts, Astralis got placed in the easier group of the Pinnacle Cup Championship, but it wouldn’t be too crazy to see them getting a 2nd-place finish if they don’t find their groove early on in the tournament.
The North American Organization Has 3 Rosters
A few days ago, Evil Geniuses picked up the Carpe Diem and Party Astronauts lineups to be used on a co-equal basis, meaning they have a 15-pláyer roster under their wings. It’s still unclear where this will lead, but it’s refreshing to see a big organization try something like this.
Now, having 15 players obviously doesn’t mean that they’ll be using every single one of them constantly, and most likely we’ll keep seeing the Brehze, CeRq, Stewie2k, autimatic, and RUSH lineup, at least for the near future. Unluckily for them, this exact lineup hasn’t found any success in the past few months, and it doesn’t seem like they’ll be making any changes soon.
According to cs-go betting experts, Evil Geniuses is far from being the best North American team in the CSGO scene now, as they are clearly a few steps behind Team Liquid and Complexity, who have recently managed to qualify for the big events. The Pinnacle Cup Championship might be a good opportunity to leave the NA region in a good light, although if we are being completely honest, most likely it won’t happen.

Astralis vs Evil Geniuses Predictions
Astralis is the clear favorite in this matchup, not only because of both teams’ recent performances, but also because a couple of months ago Astralis defeated Evil Geniuses in a very convincing manner at the ESL Pro League Season 15. The North American squad never had a chance at coming back into the series as they only managed to pick up 17 rounds throughout 2 games.
I think that the Danish team has every single tool they need to, once again, completely roll over Evil Geniuses, and unless something extraordinary happens, they’ll do it. Evil Geniuses is far from being a strong contender against the stronger European teams, and considering how weak their performances have been as of recently, I think that Astralis will simply take over this game as the cs-go odds indicate it.
