The LLA Playoffs keep Delivering
After a very exciting weekend of Latin American League of Legends, the action resumes on Saturday, when AZE kicks off their series against Infinity. Last week, in our LLA Playoffs esports picks, we’ve correctly predicted the outcome of every single match so far, including a -1.5 Map Advantage for Estral at -115 against Team Aze last week, which makes us feel confident heading into this week.
Even if neither Aze or Infinity are the strongest contenders for the title, this series is still a very important one as whoever ends up losing has to say goodbye to the competition. The stakes are at an all-time high and that should be enough of a reason for both teams to use whatever they have available to pick up the win.
In the regular season, these two teams had a similar journey. Infinity struggled throughout the majority of the split but had some dominating victories over teams like Rainbow7 and even Estral, a team that looks unbeatable right now. On the other hand, Aze had an atrocious start of the split but ended up ramping up really fast, winning 5 out of their last 6 games in the regular season.
This matchup is definitely going to be an interesting one, especially because, historically, Infinity has always struggled against Aze. The last time Infinity managed to win over Aze was back in the spring split, in week 4 of the regular season. That was almost 6 months ago. But this time might be a different story, as the lol odds project Infinity to be the favorite team in this series.
What Happened to Aze in Summer?
Let’s not forget that Aze are the current LLA champions, and a lot of people were expecting great things from this team after their MSI appearance. There is this notion surrounding Aze that they should be able to dominate Latin America after gaining “international experience” at the MSI, but that’s very far away from reality.
It seems that taking a trip to Korea and losing almost every single one of their games against other regions took a toll on Aze. After arriving back home, the players looked really distressed and their confidence in themselves was gone. Sure, they ended up gaining most of back, but they are still not the same Aze from spring split.
The main victim of this is Dimitry, one of the most emotional players in the league. When Dimitry can pull-off a great play in-game, he gets pumped up and carries that momentum throughout the whole game. But when things don’t go his way, he becomes a non-existent jungler for his team, which has already cost them more than a couple of games.
Their support, Straight, has a huge individual task when it comes to keeping Aze on the right track during their games. He is the main pillar for his team, enabling 5Kid during the laning phase then acting as the main initiator with picks like Alistar and Rakan. If Straight is feeling comfortable, it’s a huge boost for Aze, but if he doesn’t have a good start, he seems to crumble down.

AZE vs Infinity Predictions
Infinity is coming off a recent 3-0 win over All Knights, knocking them out of the tournament. But if we are being completely honest, those 3 wins could’ve been 3 defeats if AK ended up playing just a little bit better. Infinity was nowhere near dominating their opponents, which is why their form is really questionable heading into this game.
On the other hand, Aze got 3-0’d by Estral last week. Losing against Estral is nothing to be ashamed of, after all, they are really many steps ahead of the competition. The problem I saw in Aze is their lack of proactivity, especially in Dimitry. His Lee Sin games were atrocious, more specifically the first one, where he didn’t look for any invades or early skirmishes.
During the regular season, Infinity had one of the best early games we’ve seen so far. If they are able to replicate that kind of playstyle, I don’t see them struggling against Aze. In the end, I do think that Infinity has the upper hand in this series, unless Aze improved drastically during the week, but nothing indicates so.
