Just like last year’s setup, TI 2025 will be divided into three parts, but this time it will be different from the 2024 group stage and the seeding deciders. Instead, we will start with a Swiss stage, followed by an elimination round, where eight teams will qualify for the main event.
All 16 teams will compete in five rounds of best of three matches against each other. The first round will have random seeding, and from then on, the seeding will depend on the win-loss records. When we get to the elimination stage, the top rated teams will go up against the lowest rated teams from the Swiss bracket. In this round, there will be five best of three matches, which means five teams will be eliminated while five will move on to the main stage.
Finally, we have the main stage, which is super important. It will feature a double elimination bracket with best of three matches. Teams that lose in the upper bracket will drop down to the lower bracket. If they lose again in the lower bracket, they will be out of the tournament. The grand final will be the only best of five fixture.

Valve has recently revealed the names of the teams that have been invited to the biggest event of the year. In total, eight organizations have received invitations for the championship, while the other eight teams will need to compete in the regional qualifiers. Two slots are reserved for Western Europe and Southeast Asia (considered the best regions in the esport), while the remaining four regions each have one slot for the qualifiers. The invited teams include: Team Liquid, PARIVISION, BetBoom Team, Team Tidebound, Gaimin Gladiators, Team Spirit, Team Falcons, and Tundra Esports.
Even though the crowdfunding aspects make it a bit of a mystery, it’s pretty clear that it will start with a base prize pool of 1.5 million USD. It’s likely to increase, but how much it grows will depend on the recently implemented compendium store, as all earnings from that go directly to the TI prize pool.
