Evil Geniuses is the Best Team in the League
And there is no way to deny it. With 8 wins and a single loss, Evil Geniuses have demonstrated to be the most dominant team in the 2022 LCS Summer Split. Even though their only defeat was against a 4th-place CLG team, the way that EG is winning games is enough of a reason to believe they won’t show any struggles throughout the remainder of the regular season. I’m going to be completely honest, I thought that after their disastrous 2022 MSI run, it was going to take some time for them to recuperate and I mentioned so in some of our League of legends betting, but they have proven me wrong.
Before their games even start, Evil Geniuses have no exploitable weaknesses as their drafts are some of the most solid ones we have seen this summer split. Stylistically, they are exactly what you want from a top team in any region. You have Impact in the top lane, who is a reliable tank player and, when needed, he can pull off a carry performance. Inspired has such a good pathing and has a clear idea on how to play early game scenarios. This gives the rest of the team to play whichever way they want and that’s why it’s so hard to overcome this squad.
If you are a North American team, it’s really hard to find a way to beat Evil Geniuses in this current meta. Sure, EG’s international performance wasn’t even close to being good, but none of that mattered domestically. The other contenders for the title like 100 Thieves and Team Liquid have been constantly showing clear weaknesses throughout the regular season, which is the main reason why Evil Geniuses is in sole possession of 1st place.
100 Thieves Continues to Struggle
They might be holding a 6-3 record, but their instability is undeniable, and I’m not only talking about when they play against top teams. Last week, the Thieves ended up dropping their encounter versus FlyQuest, and it was shockingly bad. I’ll put it this way, they had a Senna Yasuo bot lane that had no impact during the laning phase (as expected), but that wasn’t even the worst thing. 100 Thieves gave away every single possible objective, from towers to heralds and drakes.
It seems that this 100 Thieves team is lacking direction in most of their games if they don’t have winning lanes. In their most recent victory against CLG, 100T had a good early game because Closer was all over the map with his Poppy pick and they had good solo lane matchups (Gnar vs Fiora, Sylas vs Azir). Yeah, those might not be the strongest laners but they had a strong top triangle that gave them the chance to play a proactive game.
100 Thieves might end up ramping towards the very end of the split, but now we are heading into the 2nd phase of the regular season and they haven’t shown strong signs of life. I think that Closer is their biggest performance indicator, when he looks good, the rest of the team look good. But if they are put in an uncomfortable position during the laning phase, there isn’t much that Closer can do to salvage the game.

There is so much value going on for Evil Geniuses at the moment. Realistically, they are the absolute favorites in every single one of their games, yet the lol bets don’t reflect so. It’s completely fair to say that Evil Geniuses, lane by lane, are simply a better version of their counterparts. The only “difference” is in the jungle because both of them play very different styles, though Inspired’s way of maneuvering the early game is what makes him look like a great fit for Evil Geniuses.
Let’s not forget that last split we had the shortest LCS grand finals in the history of the league, and it was Evil Geniuses completely dominating 100 Thieves from top to bottom. And what makes it scarier is that Evil Geniuses continue to show improvement while the rest of the teams seem a bit lost.
