Massive Event on the Horizon?
The Esports World Cup is scheduled to occur over a span of two weeks, featuring a total of 16 teams competing fiercely for a prize pool of $3 million. The teams will be organized into groups based on their rankings from the online qualifiers. After the group stage, the top team from each group will progress to the playoffs, while the remaining teams will enter the newly established Gauntlet Bracket. This Gauntlet Bracket will accommodate at least 23 teams, with only the top four advancing to the playoffs. The finals will showcase eight teams competing in a single elimination format.

In addition to the main competition, the EWC will award $10,000 to a fan voted MVP, although details regarding the voting criteria and participants have yet to be disclosed by the organizers. Beyond the prize pool, several teams will benefit from the newly launched Esports World Cup Partner Program, which offers 40 teams six figure base funding along with additional revenue from various campaigns and activities. The Esports World Cup is managed by ESL FACEIT, which is indirectly associated with the Saudi Arabian PIF (the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia). This connection means that the tournament is effectively hosted by the state, despite the involvement of sponsors.

Prior to the commencement of the main EWC tournament, we will need to monitor the global qualifiers to assess the performance of each favored team. The event will include both Online Qualifiers and Open Qualifiers, with expected participants such as Team Liquid, Team Spirit, Tundra, and Parivision. The Online Qualifiers will take place first, allowing the winners from each region to progress immediately. Following this, the Open Qualifiers will occur, where the top-performing team from each region will move on to the next phase. In addition to the qualifying teams, EWC 2025 will feature the reigning champions, the Gaimin Gladiators.
Furthermore, the top eight organizations in the EPT Tour Ranking as of early June will receive direct invitations, regardless of their overall results. This tournament has something special, a plethora of money available, meaning all rosters will try their best to win it all.
