The Rivalry Continues
Fnatic vs G2 is one of the most historic rivalries in the entire League of Legends esports scene and now they’ll be facing each other in the first round of the 2022 LEC Spring Playoffs. Both teams had an interesting split in their own way, but Fnatic’s consistency allowed them to secure 2nd place in the standings.
G2’s run in the LEC has been impressive throughout the years, but it’s undeniable that they have lost a bit of their magic in the past couple of splits. Now they are looking to take back what belongs to them, the LEC throne.

Fnatic is the LEC Superteam
Fnatic comes into the playoffs as the 2nd seed with just one win behind the first place, and if we look at their performance during the split, it’s not too crazy to say that they are a favorite to win the whole thing, or at least get to the finals. Even if they haven’t managed to win a title in a really long time, this split they have a clear shot at winning it and the LoL odds in this match show that as well
If we look at last week’s games, Fnatic dropped an important point against the Misfits in a way that might concern their fans where Fnatic managed to amass a 9k gold lead but failed to recognize the opponent’s strengths. Giving the enemy team a window this big to come back into a game is something that should worry Fnatic, yes they are sitting at 1.22 DRA@15 and 83.3 FT% (both highest of the league) making it clear that their early game is not where they lack, but having a 69.2% WR when ahead @ 15 minutes as the 2nd seed is something that we don’t see very often and that’s where other top teams can find a victory.
Fortunately for Fnatic they have Upset with a whooping 16.5 KDA, the highest in the competition by a lot (next one is Larssen with 7), he also has the highest CS@15 (10) of all ADCs, making him such a reliable carry and even if he is not topping the damage charts, he is someone that you can trust will have a good performance with no exceptions, this doesn’t mean that Fnatic is lacking somewhere else, but Upset’s stats are just too impressive to let them pass.
We Have Yet to See G2’s Peak Form
Unlike the other teams currently at the top of the standings, G2 has not been as consistent as they wished, dropping a few games against the worst teams in the league and not being able to get a win against Rogue puts them in a position where it’s hard to consider them a strong contender for the title. In esports betting, current form is perhaps more important than team history.
They are coming off a 2-1 week where they managed to win against Excel and Vitality, then finished with a defeat when they faced Rogue. Unlike other splits, it looks like G2 doesn’t have any strengths that stick out, although they do have a high drake and herald count per game, it’s not something that they can base their game off. If we look at their last match against Vitality, they played through a strong top side with Brokenblade using Tryndamere and Jankos on Xin Zhao where they got a big enough gold lead to the point that Brokenblade was too strong for Vitality to handle.
It’s all in the the top lane for G2 Esports, Brokenblade’s split has been really good where he achieved the highest GD@15 of all top laners and the 2nd highest DPM (493), and thanks to Jankos who has been functioning more as an enabler rather than a carry, they can look to put Brokenblade in a position comfortable enough for him to carry the game.

Fnatic vs G2 Esports Predictions
The head-to-head score is 1-1, Fnatic being the one who managed to win the last encounter in a convincing manner where they played a strong sidelane composition and Upset had one of his best performances so far this split.
Fnatic vs G2 meant something else a couple of splits ago, but now not so much. Fnatic has had a way more consistent performance during the split and G2 looks like a team that is not ready for the title. In this matchup the difference in the bot lane is way bigger than the difference in the top lane and I don’t think G2 will be able to rely on Brokenblade’s carry potential against Wunder, one of the most solid top laners in the league. This is one of the most comfortable esports picks we’ve selected in the last few days. Let’s enjoy the match and look forward to a potential victory in the books.
