G2 Esports is at Risk of Missing Out the Playoffs
Last week we saw something really concerning for G2 Esports and their fans. Against the valorant odds, they ended up dropping a series against OGLU, a team that was winless at that time. Now G2 can no longer afford dropping more games if they want a chance to get into the playoffs because right now they are sitting on a 1-2 record and are tied with OGLU. They are both 1 point behind Acend and FPX, which means that this match is one of the most important ones G2 will ever have during the group stage. Even if G2 manages to win this upcoming match, they still don’t have a playoff spot secured, but their chances of getting one will greatly increase.
Acend on the other hand, is in a much more comfortable situation, and if things keep going the way they are supposed to go, they’ll end up getting a spot in the playoffs. Though last week wasn’t good for them, they dropped their match against Fnatic. In fact, we talked about their match last week and we correctly predicted the outcome. Now the gap between Fnatic and Acend is bigger and just by looking at the recent results, it doesn’t seem that it’ll be closing any time soon, which makes me believe that Fnatic has a top-1 finish secured.
Vakk Didn’t Have a Great Match Against Fnatic
Vakaris “Vakk” Bebravičius is one of the newest additions in the Acend lineup, and while he had a decent performance during the first two weeks, he didn’t meet the expectations in their match versus Fnatic. The Lithuanian main Sova player was the worst-performing player of the first game in their last series. He finished the game with a -10 kill differential and a measly 76 ADR. He looked completely lost on Ascent, which was something strange to see considering that he was playing his most played agent so far during the group stage.
But it wouldn’t be fair to put all the blame onto Vakk because Acend is clearly having struggles when it comes to finding the right way to play. Still, this isn’t the end of the world for Acend, dropping a match against Fnatic isn’t that bad, after all, they were the team that benefited the most during the off-season as they made very important roster changes. Acend can still repeat what they did last year and win the 2022 Champions, but it’s still too early to tell. I think that if Vakk and MONSTEERR are able to find their groove before the playoffs arrive, then Acend will be on the right track to look for at least a top-4 finish in the playoffs.
G2’s Mixwell Really Needs to Step Up
G2 Esports’ captain is one of the most beloved personalities in the scene, but as of lately, he’s been unable to perform up to the expectations. Óscar “Mixwell” Cañellas is the captain for the G2 squad, and last week in their match against OGLU, he was one of the main reasons for their defeat and many valorant betting experts would agree with this. Mixwell was constantly being picked off and lost many aim duels, which might be a worrying sign for their upcoming match because Acend has really good aimers and they are prolific when it comes to taking on duels. If G2 Esports really wants to score a win over Acend, then their captain will have to greatly step up.
If we look at the bigger picture, things didn’t go that poorly for the rest of the squad. While they lost the series to one of the worst-performing teams in the group, it wasn’t one-sided at all or anything like that. I think that if they are given the chance, G2 Esports undoubtedly would be able to take down OGLU, but sadly, that’s not how things work in the VCT Challengers. Now G2 is in a tough position as they are on the brink of elimination, because let’s remember that unlike the NA Challengers tournament, only 3 of 6 teams advance into the EMEA Challengers playoffs.

G2 Esports vs Acend Predictions
Surprisingly, the valorant odds are pretty close for this matchup, and it has to do with what I talked about earlier. G2 Esports can be a good team if they can perform during the most important moments, but the problem is their big inconsistency. And by looking at their last two matches, I don’t think that they are on the right track.
Acend on the other hand, they are a much more solid team, and they have enough firepower to take down teams like G2 without much trouble. As long as their newest additions are able to put up a good performance, I think that Acend will have a clean series against G2 and secure a spot in the playoffs.
