G2 Esports vs Team Vitality Match Preview, Live Stream, Odds, Picks & Predictions
The Losers’ Bracket Miracle Run
Vitality defeated Excel Esports in the first round of the lower bracket, but it wasn’t an easy task, it took them 5 games to come out on top. G2 comes into the series after dropping from the winners’ bracket after losing against Fnatic in a fairly one-sided series.
Perkz will be facing his former organization, the one he achieved many titles with in the past, meanwhile Vitality is trying to finally leave a footprint in the LEC playoffs after not being able to go past the semifinals in the history of the competition. The Vitality team has shown glimpses of hope during the regular split, but is it enough to take over the G2 squad who is notoriously known for performing when it matters the most? Let’s find out.

G2 Esports’ Historic Record is at Stake
This series means more for G2 Esports than we think, they have achieved 8 LEC Titles and are in sole possession of this record, meanwhile Fnatic have 7 titles of their own and they are looking like a very strong contender for the title this split, meaning that they have a high chance of tying G2 on the number of LEC titles. Sadly for G2 it still looks like there is a discrepancy between them and the higher rated teams from the LEC, where most of their losses derive from their early game being so lackluster. From all the teams in playoffs, they scored the lowest on all the 15-minute mark stats (GD@15, DRA@15, and TD@15), but we have to take into account that they faced one of the strongest teams of the league so it’s clear that their stats wouldn’t look as great, they still had good run during the regular split, after all, they finished in 4th place.
In their series against Fnatic, one of the highlights was that G2 demonstrated they don’t lack in the champion pool department, particularly Caps, who played a different one every single game. Game 1 was strange on its own, both teams were doing a great job at taking early skirmishes and fighting for objectives, but around the 20-minute mark G2 tried to bite more than they could chew and after a poorly executed teamfight, Fnatic completely took over the game and 5 minutes later they managed to close the game with ease. In Game 2, G2 had a strong teamfight composition, Jankos was playing Hecarim and Caps was playing Karma, this aggressive jungle/mid duo allowed G2 to fight early objectives and make enough space for Flakked’s Aphelios to scale steadily into the later stages of the game.
The rest of the series went heavily in favor of Fnatic, but we can take away that G2 can rely on teamfight oriented compositions to have a shot at winning objectives during the mid game. Jankos and Caps have been fundamental when it comes to G2 having a solid performance in the early game, they have been playing together for many years and it shows in their ability to coordinate, so if G2 can draft around this, their chances of winning increase a lot and the lol odds back this up as well.
Vitality is Europe’s Superteam. Or is it?
Vitality came into the 2022 LEC Spring Split as the superteam of Europe, with names like Alphari, Perkz, and Carzzy, it was clear that they are aiming for the title and anything less than that will be a failure in the books for the organization. But if we take a look at their stats throughout the split, they are far from looking like a powerhouse, scoring 33.3% FB% (the lowest in the league) and a 0.9 K:D (lowest of all teams in playoffs) tells us that Team Vitality might have the players to be considered a superteam but their performance doesn’t reflect this at all.
When they played against Excel Esports they showed us almost the same face they showed during the regular split, and it’s obvious that this team relies on having good matchups on their star players because their individual performance is stronger than their performance together as a team. I don’t mean that they always need to have counter matchups, but they do depend on having a steady early game so they can outskill their opponent in teamfights and skirmishes. This way to play the game is completely fine, but it does fall apart against teams that know when and how they can take favorable trades and play around a more solid macro-game.
For me, Alphari remains to be the focal point of the team, in the regular split he had the highest CSD@15 of all top laners by a lot (12, the next one being Odoamne with 6) and highest FB% (27.8). I think he is the easiest player in the team to play around, he has a huge champion pool and he is someone that you can rely on carrying the game if he has enough advantage. Unfortunately playing around only 1 player is not something I would consider to be reliable in a best of 5 series and with the current odds they don’t seem to cut it for our esports picks.

G2 Esports vs Team Vitality Predictions
The head-to-head score is 1 to 1, the last match was in Week 8 of the regular split and it wasn’t one-sided for any team, Team Vitality was ahead during the first 15 minutes of the game because they had strong champions in the mid and bot lane, but it was G2 who ended up scaling and winning the game with their long-range champions and strong side lane split pushers.
Yes, G2 might not be as strong as past years, but they are still tough to beat due to their macro-game being still good if they manage to find their footing in the early stages of the game. Team Vitality can rely on strong individual performances but against G2 it doesn’t really matter, G2 has strong laners too and they have shown enough consistency to consider them a better team than Vitality, that’s why I think G2 will advance to the next round and I believe a handful of league of legends betting experts would agree.
