It’s Vetheo’s Time To Shine
Even though Vetheo had a great 2-year run with Misfits, it always felt like he couldn’t unleash his full potential. Now in this Excel roster, it seems that Vetheo will function as the main carry, and that should be enough for him to shine bright like a diamond. It’s almost as if this Excel lineup is straight up a better version of 2022 Misfits.
We all know just how good Odoamne is when it comes to executing a low-resource playstyle. This means that Xerxe, who is one of the best “ganking” junglers in Europe, can spend as much time as he wants playing around the mid lane.
My biggest concern would be the bot lane. Sure, Patrik is an incredibly solid ADC, but it might take him a while to get used to Targamas, who spends most of his time roaming. Other than that, this team seems to be pretty good, at least on paper.
The main question is: how long will it take Excel to build up enough synergy? Only time will tell. Considering that almost all of these players are very adaptable, I think that they might be able to get things running right from the start.
Can G2 Function Without Jankos?

I’ll put it this way, the only thing that G2 will miss is Jankos singing on stage. Jokes aside, Yike does have a huge challenge in front of him, which is to replace the most legendary European jungler, Jankos. It’s not very often that you see rookies simply surpass veteran players, but it seems that Yike has all the tools to do so.
Almost every time, rookies get overhyped when they get the opportunity to debut on the big stage, but this time is definitely different. Not only did Yike put up amazing carry performances last year, but he also was capable of acting as an enabler for his team with picks like Sejuani and Poppy.
Fortunately for G2, the jungle role is a flexible one in this meta, and they will greatly benefit from a player like Yike. Especially since Yikes isn’t required to play the carry role every game. There are so many threats in this roster that it’s going to be impossible for teams to neutralize G2.
Brokenblade is by far the best carry top in Europe. He looks very comfortable playing champions like Fiora and Camille. Looking at the mid lane, it’s impossible to deny that when Caps is having a good split, he simply rolls over every other mid laner in the league.
There is a case to be made about Hans Sama, who arguably didn’t have a great time during his short stint with Team Liquid in the LCS. That said, we can’t simply forget that he was one of the best ADCs in the LEC, and I think that he’ll show a similar face in the 2023 season.

G2 vs Excel Picks & Prediction

This is going to be a very interesting matchup to watch due to the stylistic differences between both of these teams. However, I think that G2 is simply the superior team in this encounter.
Excel does propose an interesting strategy; A super carry mid laner and 2 lanes that don’t need much resources. However, there are so many things that could go wrong in a match, that’s why it’s hard to trust them.
To make matters worse for Excel, they are going up against a G2 team that can attack from every direction, which is why I think that G2 will pick up their first victory of the winter season here.
