G2 Heads into Playoffs after Massive Regular Season Comeback
In the most G2 fashion, a 12-0 run through the lower bracket of the Spring Split playoffs to become the reigning LEC champions was not enough for them. They needed to carry that momentum through the Summer Split and into Worlds qualification, which is exactly what they did. They are entering the 2022 LEC Summer Split playoffs on a five-game win streak, as the only European squad that can be sure of attending Worlds, and as the co-leader of the regular season. When they are hyped and enter a domestic series with momentum, they are close to being unstoppable
G2, having fully separated themselves from the rest of the competition in the LEC, were not only the first team in the world to qualify for Worlds, but reached that point by winning one of the most competitive splits in recent history. Though they had their hiccups along the way, the team proved to the rest of the playing field that obstacles would only strengthen their resolve. Ultimately, G2 look like a team ready to (once more) win back-to-back titles and continue to add chapters to the org’s storied legacy in the LEC.
The scariest thing about G2 is that even if they start in a shaky manner, their veterans still know how to return to the competition with their A-game, as they did in the Spring Split. G2’s experience and comfort in today’s meta are just too strong to be ignored when it comes to fighting for another LEC trophy. While we didn’t have great expectations from G2 at the start of the split due to their “MSI hangover”, they already demonstrated that they are the strongest contenders for the title.
A Tiebreaking Victory was All that Misfits Needed

With a spot in the upper bracket on the line, Misfits continued their upward trajectory since calling up former Astralis jungler Nikolay “Zanzarah” Akatov from their LFL affiliate, Misfits Premier. Misfits now find themselves just one best-of-five win away from the team’s first Worlds appearance since 2017. The playoff berth holds more weight for the historic European org this year: they’ll look to go out with a bang in their last split in the LEC before their slot is sold to Team Heretics for the 2023 season.
Their tiebreaker game had a grim start as little by little, Fnatic crept away with the lead before an ill-fated overstay, crashing the second Rift Herald into the bottom lane tier one tower, swung the game into Misfits’ favor. From there, Zanzarah’s Poppy and superstar mid laner Vetheo’s Sylas danced around the members of Fnatic in extended fights and frustrated any attempts to come back into the game.
Now after winning their tiebreaker, using LEC’s format, if you make it to “Match 6” you make it to the Worlds Play-In stage at minimum. With G2 being the first team on the planet to lock in a spot at the tournament after the LEC was given four slots, five teams are fighting for three spots. The 2022 LEC Summer Split playoffs are going to be a bloodbath, and both Misfits and G2 Esports are in the midst of it, which is an exciting turn of events for all the league of legends betting enthusiasts out there. While Misfits had a rocky regular season, it’s safe to say that if they are capable of playing their best game, they might just be able to compete against the top teams.

G2 vs Misfits Predictions
If we take a look at the lol odds, then we can see clearly that G2 are the strong favorites coming into this series. Not only due to them finishing strong in the regular season with a 5-game winning streak, but also because G2 is basically a better version of Misfits. While Misfits have some good games where Vetheo and Neon pop-off, G2 seems to be able to do this in a more consistent manner.
Sure, Zanzarah looks like the perfect fit for Misfits, but there isn’t much he can do against the current best mid-jungle duo in the LEC. Jankos and Caps time and time again have proven to be an absolute threat as a duo, it doesn’t matter if G2 is playing great as a team or not. I expect G2 to start the playoffs in a strong manner, picking up a clean victory over Misfits.
