Can JDG Bounce Back From a Disappointing Defeat?

Following the super series between JDG and WBG last week, JDG will face another challenge in the form of IG, the other big dog in the LPL.

In the LPL Match of the Week, IG and JD Gaming will square off. This match could determine who the real league No. 1 is since the two are currently in the upper part of the standings for the spring split. However, JDG shockingly suffered their first setback of the season against WBG, defying expectations that they will rule the LPL this year.

In what everyone believed to be the match of the split last week, JDG was predicted to defeat WBG. Even though it was a great series, the outcome was unanticipated. I urge everyone to go see the entire thing. JDG lost to WBG 2-1 in the most unbelievable fashion, blowing one of the biggest leads in Game 3 and ultimately allowing WBG to mount a comeback.

In that series versus WBG, JDG displayed a small amount of greed and arrogance. They intended to end the series with the large advantage they possessed, but they went beyond on certain plays, forcing too much and getting caught in the act. JDG are still perceived as the best team despite this, as not everyone can create such a large lead early on against a top-tier opponent. The key lesson learned, however, is that JDG is not as ideal as people believed.

The performance against JDG will likely determine how valuable IG is as a team for the LPL Spring Split, therefore they have a tough test ahead of them.

Although IG is undoubtedly a playoff squad, are they powerful enough to compete for the top spot? Everyone’s current thought is focused on this question. Looking at the individual matches, it appears that the top lane will receive the most attention. The rising rookie, YSKM, will compete against 369, who is regarded as the LPL’s best top laner.

While we already know that IG’s top laner struggles with the champion pool when he isn’t playing Irelia, Jax, or Fiora, he is also making strides when playing as weakside. The teams’ draft strategies will ultimately depend on whether JDG wants to target YSKM or if IG tries to build a plan around this variable. It will serve as the series’ key.

Despite the fact that JDG lost their most recent series, it is unlikely that they will continue to commit the same errors. JDG is still the favorite in this series given how they have performed so far and the fact that teams are gradually learning about IG’s limitations.

Having said that, IG should be able to take at least one game of JDG. If they succeed, IG will probably remain in the top 4 or 5 for the remainder of the split. Otherwise, we might observe a gradual loss of their power.
