League of Legends Worlds 2022 Groups Winners Outrights Predictions, Odds & Picks

Last week, we shared our play-in group winners predictions, and we’ve also talked about which team has the best chance to win the whole thing. Today, we’ll take a step back and figure out which team is going to come out on top of their respective group while also taking a look at the lol odds.

This year’s world championship group stage has a lot of exciting matchups going on, including classics like C9 vs Fnatic, and T1 vs EDG. While this makes it a very fun one to watch, it also makes it a bit harder to predict which team will put up the best performance and have the upper hand in each of their encounters but we’ll try our best to analyze each group. Without further ado, let’s get to it!

Group A – EDward Gaming

Let’s get it out of the way, both Cloud9 and Fnatic won’t be making it past groups this year, which is disappointing for all the western fans. But in return, we’ll have an epic duel between LCK #2 seed T1 and LPL #3 seed EDG. These two teams are no strangers to each other, as last year we saw them battle it out in the same group, with T1 coming out on top just 1 game ahead (though the head-to-head ended on a 1-1)

I think this time around EDG will have the upper hand for multiple reasons. The main one being that they’ve been ramping up towards the end of the season, and we can’t forget that they are the current world champions. Sure, we can’t brush off T1, but it’s safe to say that they are not doing their best since the summer split started.

  • PICK: EDward Gaming to finish first in group A at +100

Group B – Damwon KIA

Yes, this pick might surprise a lot of people, but in reality, the race for 1st place in Group B is going to be a lot closer than expected. The clear favorites are JD Gaming (-286), but we can’t forget that in every single World Championship, there is 1 Chinese team that completely deflates and ends up being the biggest disappointment of the year (FPX 2021, EDG prior to 2021). I really believe that JDG will be that team this time around.

Now, I’m not saying that JDG is a weak team, not at all, but I do believe that DWG KIA will be able to return to their old form and be capable enough of claiming the Group B throne.

  • PICK: DWG KIA to finish first in group B at +250

Group C – Top Esports

As mentioned before in our Worlds Winner outright predictions, I think that Top Esports will be the best team in the tournament. Now, this might be a bit unexpected considering that they failed to defeat JDG twice (4-6 overall record in playoffs), but it was an extremely close fight between those two teams.

So, if JDG beat Top Esports twice, why would they come in as a stronger team? Well, there are many reasons, but the main one being that Worlds is being played in patch 12.18, while the LPL playoffs were played in 12.15. The meta right now heavily favors Top Esports, with the current bot lane meta being enough for Top Esports to have the edge.

  • PICK: Top Esports to finish first in group C at -250

Group D – Gen.G

This is the easiest of all groups, with Gen.G being one of the strongest teams not only in Group D, but in the whole tournament. They are coming off a convincing 3-0 victory over T1 in the LCK finals, showing that they are leagues above the rest of the Korean teams and that makes me feel confident that they won’t struggle at all securing first place.

There is only one team that might be able to snatch a game away from the LCK champions, and that is RNG, which is also one of the strongest teams in the whole world. Unfortunately for them, at least from what we saw during their run in the play-in stage, they don’t look solid enough to come out on top of their group.

With the group stage kicking off very soon, don’t forget to bet on esports at BetUS Sportsbook & Casino, we have a lot of outright bets you can make for this year’s LoL Worlds, so make sure to check it out!

  • PICK: Gen.G to finish first in group D at -286
