The 2022 LCK Summer Playoffs Kick Off!
After 9 intense weeks of regular season, the LCK Playoffs brackets have been finally set. Kwangdong Freecs, Fredit BRION, Nongshim RedForce, and Hanwha Life Esports didn’t make playoffs due to their poor performances throughout the whole split. KDF and BRO did make it to the spring playoffs, but now, LSB and KT will be replacing their pressence.
The tournament starts on August 17 with LSB vs DRX being the first series of the playoffs. Let’s take a quick look at what’s ahead of us this week:
- Wednesday: LSB vs DRX
- Thursday: DWG KIA vs KT Rolster
- Saturday: Gen.G vs TBD
- Sunday: T1 vs TBD
Since Gen.G finished 1st place in the regular season, they’ll get to choose their semi finals opponents once the first round is over. While both Gen.G and T1 are the favorites to pick up the title, LSB and KT Rolster have been playing surprisingly well in summer, which makes the first round of playoffs a very exciting one to watch. Today we’ll be going over the LSB vs DRX series, so without further ado, let’s jump right into it.
Prince is Candidate for MVP of the Split
In one of our recent esports picks, we talked about how Prince is LSB’s ultimate weapon, and without him, this team would be screwed. With 1200 points, Prince is tied for 1st with Peanut in the Player of the Game standings, and this shouldn’t be a surprise at all. Amongst all the ADCs in the LCK, Prince has the 2nd highest KDA (6.2) and his other stats also look great: 10.3 CSM, 623 DPM, 483 GPM. Sure, we can say that he is benefiting greatly from LSB giving him all the resources, but in reality, he is the perfect carry for this team.
While Dove is far from being the worst top laner in the LCK, he isn’t necessarily a player you can rely on when it comes to carrying a team. Clozer has been getting better and better as the split progresses, but champion diversity and lack of consistency restricts him from being the protagonist in LSB. That is why this team has adapted to their needs and got to the point where they can simply put Prince in a favorable matchup in the bot lane and they can fully trust him to carry games.
During the off-season, Liiv SANDBOX made a single change in their lineup, and it was adding Prince back to the main team. Not a single change was made in the coaching staff or anywhere else, that’s how impactful Prince has been for LSB this summer split. Last week, Prince scored a 24 KDA throughout 4 games, and 2 of those games were against the 2022 MSI runner-ups T1. As long as Prince and co. can carry their current form into the playoffs, I don’t see them struggling against their first opponents.

LSB vs DRX Predictions
Sandbox is definitely the favorite team in this series. They won both of their encounters against DRX in the regular season, and the overall game record is 4-2. The biggest issue for DRX is their lack of consistency. While sometimes they look good as a team, it’s often because they managed to pull-off some kind of weird strategy in the early game, or they somehow get a draft that fits their playstyle perfectly.
To put things in perspective, DRX hasn’t been able to beat a single one of the other teams in the top-6, except for DWG KIA. On the other hand, LSB has beaten every single team in the LCK this split, except for Gen.G, the current leaders. Sure, before the split even started, we all thought that DRX was going to be one of the strongest teams in the league, but they couldn’t find an identity to stick to this season.
While DRX has some great players under its wings, I don’t think that they are going to be able to withstand their counterparts. The only player that might be able to win individually is Kingen, but his champion pool doesn’t allow him to act as a carry. Prince is simply going to do as usual and roll over his opponents. Also, this is going to be Clozer’s first time playing in the LCK playoffs stage, and who knows, he might end up unleashing his potential.
The LCK playoffs is a very exciting tournament for all the League of Legends betting enthusiasts out there and we’ll be covering every single match throughout the whole thing, so make sure to check out the rest of our content!
