Excel is Amongst the Best Teams in the LEC
While a lot of League of Legends betting experts are still sleeping on Excel, this team has managed to overcome a lot of expectations. Right now they are looking like one of the strongest teams in the LEC, maybe next to Mad Lions. Excel has an incredibly good read on the meta, and the best of all is that it suits their playstyle almost perfectly. All of this is something quite impressive to achieve, considering that the only player that has won an LEC championship from this roster is Mikyx.
Their ADC, Patrik “Patrik” Jírů, is trying to demonstrate something in this split. Right now, the 22-year-old Czech ADC is a top-3 ADC in the league, which is something that not many expected because he’s only reached the finals once, and he lost in a disappointing 3-0 manner. While the Mad Lions bot lane is one of the strongest in the league, Patrik’s individual skill might make the difference in this game. Amongst starting ADCs, he has one of the highest KDA (5.7), DMG Share (28%), and CSM (9.2).
Even if Excel’s top triangle isn’t looking as hot, Nukeduck has managed to impress. His Taliyah pick is a huge threat to the competition and it wouldn’t be strange to see Mad Lions throwing some bans towards him. The 26-year-old Norwegian mid laner has been playing at the top level for quite a while now, since 2013 to be precise, and he doesn’t seem to be slowing down. What Excel has managed to achieve this split is nothing short of amazing, and if they are able to keep the ball rolling, we can expect Excel to reach the international stage this year for the first time in the history of the organization.
The Lions are Aiming for the Throne
After a disappointing 7th-place finish in the 2022 LEC Spring Split, Mad Lions are looking to turn things around, and to be fair, it seems that they are back on track to become the best team in the European region. Mad Lions is looking like one of the most solid teams in the league, currently tied for 1st with Rogue. The Lions ony made a single roster change during this last off-season, but it’s safe to say that it was all they needed to become a top team.
Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer is back on the LEC stage after a split of inactivity. The 23-year-old Belgian mid laner is perfect for his team, and his teammates are very aware of this. Mad Lions is the strongest team when it comes to the early game and this is because both Nisqy and Elyoya are completely in tune, which is impressive considering that this is their first split playing together. Even though Mad Lions almost always have the early advantage, we’ve seen them turn around games that looked completely lost. This team is an absolute machine and it’s still uncertain which team will be able to stop them in their tracks.

Mad Lions vs Excel Predictions
In the past week, we have been going for the underdogs to win in our esports picks, and it has been working out pretty well. CLG scored a +281 victory over Team Liquid, and BLG picked up the win (+121) over FPX a couple of days ago. And in this match, I think that the underdogs are going to score the win once again.
We have talked quite a bit about how Mad Lions have the strongest early game in the league, but we should take a look at how this matchup went the last time these two teams met. First of all, it happened during week 2 of the regular season, which was quite a bit ago and both teams have shown a lot of improvement throughout the past few weeks.
From the very moment the draft started, XL made it clear that they had a solid plan to play against Mad Lions’ scary early game. While many teams opt to avoid a direct encounter against teams like Mad Lions, XL decided to fight fire with fire and went for a skirmish composition with picks like Volibear, Ahri, and Lucian. Excel ended up absolutely stomping Mad Lions, not allowing them to take a single neutral objective and closing out the game at the 21st-minute mark.
Now, this was a long time ago and I’m pretty sure that Mad Lions learned their lesson, but it’s undeniable that the way they lost is a bit worrying for them. Maybe if XL were going through a slump then I would think Mad Lions had the upper hand, but it’s quite the opposite. XL comes off a 2-0 week against Misfits and Fnatic and overall, they are looking like one of the cleanest teams in the league. Even though the lol Odds are leaning towards Mad Lions due to their 4-game winning streak, I think that XL is going to be able to repeat the feat and take over the game.
