Last Week of the LEC Regular Season
It’s been an exciting regular season to watch, and with only one more week left to be played, there are still many questions that remain unanswered. The only team that has managed to secure a playoff spot is Mad Lions, then we have 8 teams that are still in the race for one. Let’s take a look at the standings to have a clear idea on what’s going on in this chaotic LEC split.
- Mad Lions (10-5)
- G2 Esports (9-6)
- Misfits (9-6)
- Rogue (9-6)
- Team Vitality (9-6)
- Astralis (7-8)
- Excel (7-8)
- Fnatic (7-8)
- SK (6-9)
- Team BDS (2-13)
While G2, Misfits, Rogue, and Team Vitality are 2 points above the next teams in the standings, they are still at risk of missing playoffs due to the last week of the regular season being a 3-day superweek. That’s right, every team will play against three different opponents, just like they did in the opening week. While SK Gaming and Fnatic are the teams that are most likely going to miss playoffs, they can still make it in or at least ruin the chances for other teams.
Today we’ll be going over a match between Mad Lions and G2, two teams that find themselves in very different forms. The Lions just had a 0-2 week against Rogue and Misfits, funnily enough, MAD also lost against those two teams during the first phase of the round robin. On the other hand, G2 picked up 2 wins against Excel and Fnatic. Even though G2 looks stronger right now, Mad Lions have so many tools available, that’s why the lol odds favor them.
Nisqy was a Blessing for Mad Lions
After acquiring Nisqy and seeing the way he has been performing so far, it’s safe to say that the Mad Lions management clearly know what they are doing with their team. Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer could easily be considered the strongest candidate for MVP of the Split in the LEC, that’s how important this pickup was for MAD. He is a player that just keeps getting better and better. It’s very hard to pinpoint a moment in his career where you could say he had a big slump.
In earlier years, we could say that Nisqy’s champion pool was his biggest weakness, but that no longer seems to be the case. While he isn’t playing every single champion in the game, Nisqy makes sure that the ones he is playing are the ones his team needs. With champions like Taliyah, Lissandra, and Twisted Fate, Nisqy has demonstrated that he is a perfect enabler for his teammates. That paired with the fact he is a very selfless and vocal player, he is the ultimate weapon in the Mad Lions arsenal.
The 24-year-old Turkish mid lane is leading in stats amongst the LEC mid laners. He is the one with the highest amount of assists per game with 7.4, he also leads the KP% leaderboard with 73%, which is incredibly high for a mid laner. Considering that Nisqy is only playing champions that act as enablers, it’s not a big surprise to see him hold the lowest DMG% in the mid lane department at 24%. While not every team might benefit from a player like Nisqy, Mad Lions seem to be the right fit.

Mad Lions vs G2 Predictions
G2 might still be one of the most beloved teams when it comes to League of Legends betting, but they aren’t looking that hot right now. It seems that their MSI participation ended up hurting them quite a bit. Caps and Jankos used to be the main carries for G2 because they were able to simply stomp every single jungle mid matchup in the LEC. But it’s hard to keep that form up and the rest of the competition is starting to catch up.
Mad Lions shouldn’t have a lot of issues against G2. Even if the 2022 MSI LEC representatives seem to be ramping up, there are still many areas they need to improve on if they want to have a real chance at taking down the current leaders. Fortunately for G2, they should be able to win at least 1 of their 3 matches of the superweek to secure a playoff spot. Yeah, it sounds crazy but there is a possible scenario where G2 ends up missing the playoffs.
The LEC regular season is coming to an end but don’t worry. There are enough exciting matches in the super week to keep our engines going. Besides that, the playoffs are right around the corner so make sure to stay tuned in as we still have plenty of esports picks to share this week.
