RNG Looked Shaky in Their First Win
After a solid performance at the 2022 MSI stage, we were expecting the LPL representatives to start off the summer split in a strong manner. They would be playing against a team that couldn’t reach the top-half of the standings last split, FunPlus Phoenix. Even though a lot of us were expecting a quick 2-0 from RNG, they came really close to losing the series as FPX picked up the first map.
That was the first time we got the chance to see Chen “Breathe” Chen, former Bilibili top laner, play for RNG, and while he was the best performing player in the first game of the series, the team as whole didn’t look that great. By the 20-minute mark, RNG were 6k gold behind and FPX had already secured the first baron of the game, and with the aid of Xiaolaohu‘s level 16 Kayle, FPX managed to close out the game 29 minutes in.
But the 2022 MSI LPL representatives were not going to give up that easily, and in game 2 they turned things around in a very convincing manner. Breathe had an stellar performance on Fiora, the champion that he used to dominate the very best top laners in the LPL last split. Now he’ll square up against Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok, the top laner that was considered one of the best players in the world, but that right now, isn’t doing too hot.
Angel is Carrying Weibo Gaming

Weibo’s mid laner, Xiang “Angel” Tao, scored a 16 KDA against Invictus Gaming, and 6 against World Elite, the highest of the whole series. Even though those two teams aren’t necessarily strong competitors, it’s still good to see Angel be capable of putting up such performance. During the spring split, he had the highest KDA of all LPL mid laners and 2nd highest of all players at 6.5 throughout 39 games.
In league of legends betting, draft is a very important thing to consider, and right now, Weibo has a 100% winrate (4 games) when Angel is playing Ahri, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see RNG direct some bans towards him. That is going to be his hardest trial by fire as they’ve lost every single game when he is on any other champion. That’s not to say that Angel performs bad on other champions as he’s still the one doing the best even in their losses.
After Angel, Tang “huanfeng” Huan-Feng is the one performing the best out of the whole Weibo lineup. With a 31 KDA against Invictus Gaming, Huanfeng proved that his Kalista is one the best ones we’ve seen so far in the LPL summer split. It’s safe to say that if RNG ends up focusing on disabling either Angel or Huanfeng, the other one might be enough to score a win in their books.
When it comes to average game duration, Weibo Gaming is sitting at 5th place with 30:44 over 8 games, which is a bit surprising considering the current state of the meta, though RNG’s games are a bit shorter (29:56). It’s going to be interesting to see how WBG ends up trying to adapt to RNG and their fast-paced playstyle.

RNG vs Weibo Gaming Predictions
Even if we consider that RNG’s individual skill-level is way higher when compared to Weibo, draft is still going to make a huge difference. From what we’ve seen so far, Weibo is depending way too much on Angel being on a comfortable pick to secure an early lead big enough to turn it into a victory.
On the other side of the spectrum we have RNG, a team that played 11 different champions out of the possible 15. While RNG didn’t look that good in their first series of the split, RNG is more than ready after their 2022 MSI appearance as they didn’t have to travel to Korea like the rest of the competitors.
The thing is that RNG is not going to have an easy week, they are playing Weibo Gaming and Victory 5. Let’s remember that Weibo Gaming did get knocked out of the spring playoffs after their very first series, though they ended up losing against JDG, a team that came really close at taking down RNG.
In the end, as long as RNG manages to get their hands on a good draft, there is no way they are losing this series as they are just far superior to Weibo, and the lol bets back this up. This is the 2nd of many LPL Summer Split esports picks to come, and hopefully RNG will score our 2nd win and if everything goes well, we might get ourselves into a streak like we did last split.
We’ve plenty of League of Legends bets for you to consider.
