Will laning dominance be enough?

Dplus KIA’s approach to the game has been hit and miss, especially in a region where experienced players are used to soaking pressure. Champions like Leblanc, Yone, and Yasuo have been a Showmaker staple for a while, however in recent seasons mid laners prefer a more passive approach with scaling champions. Nevertheless, DKIA doubles down in their lane dominant/gank heavy approach to the game, which T1 managed to control in their last series.

Even after looking for a strong early 2v2 duo for Showmaker and Lucid, DKIA is actually in the negatives when it comes to overall gold differential at 15 minutes, standing at -717. We expect a more controlled approach for DKIA this time around, with Showmaker opting for the likes of Taliyah, Corki and even Orianna. As for the rest of the team, we don’t believe it’s necessary to change much, as their champion pool is rather standard.

Overall, there is a strong chance this series goes long, however it would be rather strange to see DKIA as the winner. Odds do support our theory, standing at +570 for them to win 3-2.

Enough left in the tank

T1’s season has not been up to par, with controversy surrounding the squad for most of the year, it is surprising to even see them in the last chance qualifier. From players not able to practice due to hackers, some players reportedly set to finish their army time, and Faker’s infamous outrage in the review booth, T1 is good enough to still have a shot at Worlds.

Teamfighting compositions has been the bread and butter for T1 for quite some time, and this time around they still opt for disadvantageous laning phases in order to secure a better late game composition. Faker has left most of the creative picks for the side lanes, focusing on his usual stars Azir and Corki. As for the side lanes, a total of 18 unique champions were picked in the postseason for Zeus and Gumayusi. Massive focus on CS early on, pushes T1 at a +438 gold differential by 15 minutes even while picking more passive early game champions.

Overall T1 is still the favorite for this series, with the odds standing at +250 for them to win 3-2.
