Dream or Rookie?
That’s the main question when it comes to Victory 5. Tan “Dream” Wen-Xiang has been playing as the main mid laner for V5 in their past 3 matches, and he’s been performing way over the expectations. He is currently sitting on a 13.4 KDA, the highest amongst his team and 3rd highest of the league. And while the reason for this roster change is still unknown, we can expect Rookie to play in their series against RNG as they are one of the toughest opponents in the LPL.
Song “Rookie” Eui-jin was considered the best mid laner throughout the LPL Spring Split, and he was awarded the Most Valuable Player award. Rookie had one of the best splits in his career, which started in the LCK in 2014, and V5 finished 1st place in the 2022 LPL Spring Split regular season, which is quite a feat. They were the first team to qualify for the playoffs stage and with a 14-2 record they claimed the top of the standings.
In the end, it’s impossible to know which mid laner Victory 5 is going to end up using, and that might affect the lol odds as the matchup in this specific encounter is going to matter a lot. Rookie is definitely the better mid laner, though Dream still has a lot of room to grow throughout the spring split regular season.
Victory 5 didn’t have the best run in the spring split playoffs as they were knocked down to the lower bracket in their very first match against Top Esports in a 2-3 manner. They went on to face off JDG, and ultimately picked up a 3-1 victory over them, though their run wouldn’t go for much longer. Top Esports, once again, defeated V5, though this time was much more convincing. V5 didn’t get the chance to play against the 2022 MSI LPL representatives, and that matchup was something that a lot of us were expecting to watch in the grand finals.
Now Victory 5 is looking to dominate the LPL regular season back-to-back as they haven’t dropped a single series yet and all of their members have been performing pretty well, which isn’t something we can say about RNG. V5 is topping the charts in a lot of stats right next to JDG as they are both undefeated.
RNG is Recuperating From Their 2022 MSI Appearance

While a lot of people think that playing at the 2022 MSI is something completely beneficial for the teams, it might be quite the opposite. Teams need to do a lot of changes in their routine when it comes to playing in an international event, even if they do it from home like RNG did. Training schedules, practice regimes, meta changes, these are some of the things that teams need to re-arrange in order to increase their chances of winning on the international stage.
It’s not like RNG has lost a series as of yet, but they have definitely struggled against a team that they shouldn’t. FunPlus Phoenix and Weibo Gaming are the two teams that the 2022 MSI Champions recently faced. The thing is that RNG lost their series against FPX in the spring split, though it was a widely-considered fluke, luckily they picked up a 2-1 victory this time. On the other hand, they had no issues against Weibo Gaming in the spring split, but this time they dropped the 2nd game of the series.
The biggest advantage RNG would have against Victory 5 is in the mid lane, because as we know, V5 has been using their substitute mid laner Dream instead of Rookie. Li “Xiaohu” Yuan-Hao could now be considered the best mid laner in the world, and I don’t think that a player like Dream that can still be considered a rookie could put up a good fight against the 2022 MSI champion. RNG has incredibly strong solo laners that V5 won’t be able to withstand.

Victory 5 vs RNG Predictions
This is definitely going to be a very exciting match, if not the most exciting match of the weekend. Victory 5 is looking great and RNG might start revving their engines for this match as taking down V5 is not an easy feat. Hopefully for all the league of legends gambling fans we’ll have a Rookie vs Xiaohu matchup in the mid lane.
If we look at the rest of the lanes, it’s safe to say that RNG has the upper hand as they have some of the very best laners in the whole world. The only one that didn’t look that convincing in their series against FunPlus Phoenix was Wei, though we know what this jungler is capable of.
In the end, I do believe that RNG is going to end up scoring a win but it won’t be an easy match for them. Something important to note is that this series is very unlikely to end in a 2-0 for any way, and both teams will give each other a run for their money.
