The Black Desert Championship is the next PGA Tour tournament on the schedule, and it’s Keith Mitchell topping betting markets.

The American was favored to win the Sanderson Farms Championship last week, but he bogeyed the 72nd hole to miss out on a playoff.

1. Bounce Back for Mitchell

It was a tough way to not cash last week. Mitchell had a putt to win the tournament on the final hole, but after three-putting from 39 feet, he missed out on the playoff.

It was a tough pill to swallow for the tournament favorite, who didn’t play well enough in the final round compared to the winner. He shot only -2, and if he wants to win this week, he needs to finish it off better.

Our Black Desert Championship picks have Mitchell winning. Losing last week is a concern, but he’s the favorite for a reason, and he faces a similar field of golfers this week. It’s akin to a Korn Ferry Tour field, and a player of his ability should strike soon.

It has been too long between wins for Mitchell, and with all the best players in the world enjoying time off, he won’t get a better chance to justify the +1800 odds.

2. Hossler Knocking on the Door

We don’t often leave Beau Hossler out of our golf picks for low-level tournaments, but we risked it with him last week. It almost backfired with Hossler losing to a birdie on the first playoff hole, but we’re not leaving him out this week.

A maiden win has been a long time coming for Hossler, who looked good in college and has threatened to win a PGA Tour event many times.

He lacks the winning experience needed to cope under the pressure, but it was hard not to be impressed with his play at the Sanderson Farms. He was denied a rules request on the final hole, which would have been absurd to grant. Hossler was not happy with the outcome.

“The main positive is just getting under the gun and performing,” said Hossler. “I’m a little disappointed with the outcome. I’m a little salty right now.”

3. Kiwi Fox Seeks First PGA Tour Win

We were impressed with the big-hitting New Zealander Ryan Fox last week, who posted another solid finish on the PGA Tour.

Son of famous All Black Grant Fox, Ryan Fox is a dynamic player and we believe it’s only a matter of time before he wins in the United States. It could come this week at the Black Desert Championship.

The 37-year-old is a multiple winner on the DP World Tour, including the 2023 BMW PGA Championship when beating Tyrell Hatton and Aaron Rai. That showcased his ability, and he only needs to make putts to get it done.

When I played with him in Auckland, New Zealand, it was only his putting that stopped him from turning professional. He has worked hard on that aspect of his game, and the rest is history.
